I've been looking to replace the Blackouts in my LTD for about the past month, and wanted to know if anyone in our beloved AGF community has gotten their hands on these puppies. The Blackouts sound great but they are very dark in an already dark sounding guitar, thus I wanna even the tone out. I was looking into the Het Set because, based on reviews, it's the infamous 81/60 (of which came stock in my LTD), but hotter, fuller, and sexier. Plus, I have the 57/66 in the Agile, so it'd be a nice contrast.

Any help would be appreciated y'all :)

I have both the Blackouts and the Het Set in 2 different guitars. The Het Set has a pretty similar feel to the 81/60 but the low end is fuller and less harsh high end.

The Blackouts to me has more low mids and slightly less bite than the Het Set which results in that darker sound. So I think the Het Set should work out great to brighten up that LTD.

I have the Het Set in my Schecter Blood Moon. They are great pickups, and they seem to be very similar, if not identical to the 57/66 set. Like PAFs on steroids, if that helps!

I have a 60/81 set in my Jim Root Tele and the 57/66 set in my Edwards LP. They both sound great, but I love the 57/66. It is a PAF on steriods.

So, in short, if you're looking for something that contrasts to the 57/66 set, the Hetfields are not the ones.

    Maybe some Fishman Fluence pickups?

Not necessarily contrast (it was late at night, wrong word lol), but can do the PAF-on-roids thing for the LTD, due to it's darkness.

I actually did look at Fishman Fluences for a bit, but if I were to get them I'd definitely wanna throw them in a guitar I'd use for B Standard lol
