Last night I went to see Gary Clark Jr. Great show! That guy is good.

He opened for a band called My Morning Jacket. I had never heard of them but figured I would recognize a song or two, but I didn't. The funny thing was, the place was packed and everyone was so into the band. The crowd knew every word of every song and were dancing and head banging like crazy. It was like I was in the twilight zone or something. They were so into a band that I haven't heard a single song from. And the thing is, I listen to all types of music. From Megadeath to Britney Spears to My Chemical Romance to Bruno Mars. I am all over the board. And I have young kids at home so I try to keep up on what the kids are listening to now

But I had never heard of these guys. It was an entertaining show, but I think I liked watching the crowd more than the band.

Anyways, am I somehow out of the loop about these guys? Have any of you heard of them?

I've heard of them but never heard them.

Who is Megadeath, is that a Megadeth tribute?

I discovered My Morning Jacket through the Fox animated show American Dad. Stan Smith stumbles into a concert and becomes enthralled with the band to an unhealthy degree--hilarity ensues.

    Good episode, great band.

If you like the Flaming Lips, you'll probably like MMJ.

If you like blues, check out Gary Clark Jr. He is who we went to see. Great guitar player. Has a signature model Epi semi-hollow.

I first saw them on Austin City Limits. Had never heard of them before. Needless to say, I was Highly Suspicious. I like them.

Gary Clark was the opener. This other band was the headline.

He played one of those last night. Only for one song. Most of the night he had a T.V. Yellow SG with three P90s. Beautiful guitar.

My morning jackets has been around for ages, far from a new band. Their album Z is amazing.

I bought 5 albums and an EP through iTunes. To be honest, I usually listen to them all in one unified playlist in my car during rush hour traffic. I don't know most of the song names and have little clue which album they're on. I just hit play and motor on without skipping any tracks.

But based on Hoser's post, I isolated the album Z on my computer tonight. Yeah, that's a damn fine collection of songs.

One of their more popular songs, from The Tennessee Fire, always stands out when I'm listening to the aforementioned playlist...

Earlier My Morning Jacket was very southern rock-ish (It Still Moves is one of my favorite albums). They started to get more jam band/experimental in subsequent albums. Really killer band.

Gary Clark Jr is amazing--got really into him over the past year and a half or so, saw him close out Chicago Blues Fest a month ago. Great show, great guitarist

I heard of MMJ years ago. I kinda dig the few songs that I've heard. I always meant to check them out further, but they always slips my mind. I like jam bands, and if they're a jam band, I imagine a live recording would represent the band the best.

Gary Clark Jr. is a great player, and I'd love to have his signature Casino (that's a fully hollow guitar, BTW @dbrian66). Preferably the one with the Bigsby (I've never had a Bigsby on any of my Casinos). Not so much because of Clark, but I love the 'Blak and Blue Burst'... and it has Gibson P90s... And I'm a Casino guy. :)

Yes, I've heard of them. Who's this "David Letterman" guy though?

He used to be a sportscaster in Nebraska, i think... He got his big break guest hosting the Arsenio Hall show. It was all downhill from there.
