In another thread (this one) http://www.aguitarforum.com/threads/feeling-mostly-uninspired.97483/

I was talking about how life and all of it's BS has left me largely uninspired to write new music. My "therapy" for that dilemma was to learn and record a cover song a month in the hope that it jars something loose and that it at least keeps my playing and recording chops up.

To that end, I present the first song in the series.

Start simple and work your way out I say. I really don't solo, so if I'm going to do all of this myself I've got to find songs that really don't have elaborate solos (or solos at all in this case).

I'm a huge Judas Priest fan and yeah, this is an easy song, but it is pretty fast. So it didn't take me long to learn it, but triple tracking guitars on each side did take some warming up and precision.

I played all of the instruments, sang all of it, and mixed it (mixed it this morning).

$60 stock Epiphone Les Paul Jr. in the right speaker, my namesake Gibson LP in the left speaker.

    Hope you enjoy it.

    "Breakin' the what??!!!"

What a way of getting out of the "feeling mostly uninspired" state of mind and heart, Randy.

I liked it very much, and those guitars sounded awesome!

    Follow that path, my friend.

Nice! The guitars have even more bullocks than the Priest version.

yeah the guitars are much more prevalent in this version as opposed to the original, where the bass is more up front.

RLP - great skill to pull off that whole thing by yourself, kudos to you, sir.(y)

Used to play that in jr high. That's how we imagined we sounded when we played it. We didn't sound like that.

A little tidbit about tracking the guitars for those who may be interested.

3 tracks each side. Same amp (Blackstar ID:30 TVP) with different amp EQ settings for each pass. 1 super bass heavy, 1 mid heavy, 1 treble heavy. Blend to taste.

The Epiphone is the Super Crunch voice with the gain backed off a bit - Right speaker. The Epi pickup is hotter than the Gibson.
The Gibson is the OD2 voice with more gain - Left speaker.

No reverb or delay on the guitars at all, totally dry with some compression and tape saturation sim. No additional EQ other than a HPF at 100Hz.

Hey Randy, if there's a song you can perform all the parts on except the leads I'd be happy to fill those in for you.
