Just watched him in an episode of The Outer Limits a couple weeks ago. Loved him in Ed Wood.

I grew up on Space 1999 in 70's England - he was one of the first 'action heroes' to me as Commander Koenig (in a show with arguably one of the great theme tunes of the decade, too).

A sad loss and a fine actor. 89 is a good age but he's looked older than his years for a long time, I think.

Big space 1999 fan as a kid. It was my star trek. I always looked down on the original start trek for being cheezy.

RIP Mr. Landau. I am sure I saw him in something here or there but do not remember anything other than Mission Impossible.

    RIP

What if I told you he was great in Entourage. Would that be something you might be interested in?

Great actor, one of the best parts of an underrated albeit bad movie "Ready to Rumble"

Martin Landau is a favourite of mine, so this makes me sad. Well, he was my original avatar on this place....and one heck of an actor. I also loved him as Kurzweil in "The X-Files: Fight the Future."

And I loved "Space: 1999" when I was a kid too. We got it on the CBC on Saturday afternoons, possible to expose us to the British-Canadian cultural glory of Barry Morse's sideburns, evident (dominant?) in Tsukiyomi's post.

RIP, Martin. I thought he also played a Vulcan in one of the Trek movies?

I think you are confusing him with the guy who played Spock's father.
IMDB does not show him as ever being on any Star Trek.
But I think he did claim to have turned down the role of Spock before it was offered to Nimoy.

Yep. And when he left "Mission: Impossible, he was replaced by......Leonard Nimoy. If Nimoy took over on "Space: 1999," this could be considered a trend.
