    My Liquid arrived this morning!

I promptly replaced the strings, and a minute later I was conjuring some gorgeous tones. I'm thoroughly impressed with this guitar. Fit, finish and feel are excellent. It has awesome visual presence, and we're talking about a guitar (w/HSC) that was $247, shipped to my door. Wow!!

One more pic to better demonstrate the metallic CAR. The pics above make it look darker than in person.

Great photos! That red looks so classy with the maple board and black plastics. Love the top wrap too. It's functional but adds to the overall look as well.

    HNGD!

I'm glad SX worked out their finish issues. A few years ago they had trouble with milky poly. I bought a Hawk with that issue.

Your Liquid will require some tweaking, but they are nice mod project guitars. Congrats!

I've thought about pulling the trigger on this very model myself a few times. I really want a tremolo though. I'm also concerned I'd be hitting that middle pickup all the time. It happens periodically when I play my strat - I guess I need to change my technique. But wow that guitar looks stellar.

I've played it a lot today. The middle pickup doesn't get in the way for me.

    Do it!!

they really should put a small "e" in between S and X on the headstock for some of these.

gorgeous, and HNGD - I should whip you up a matching tweed and black leather strap for that outfit

Don't get me wrong I wasn't pressuring you .. but I will, and can make a perfectly matching outfit
for this, I think - that will be comfy and you will be very proud of. Tweed great, it goes with a lot of guitars too.

measure the strap you now use, hole to hole, and I'll start the process.

    SX on fire! (y)

    ........

Noticed you're wrapping over the stoptail piece. I've seen this trick before and been tempted to try it but fear that it would compromise tuning stability or, worse, strings popping out of their saddles.

What are the positives and how bad are my perceived negatives? How lively do the strings get in their saddles?

One of those 'great debates' Dave

There is no impact to stability, unless becoming more stable because you usually drop the bridge down against the body. Lowering the bridge all the way is also needed to have a reasonable break angle for the strings.

Some people like it because they perceive a slinkier feel to the strings while playing, which may be true depending on how it compares to your original break angle. Others just prefer it aesthetically or because their guitar heroes used the technique.

...I'm looking at the last pic in the original post and he break angle on the D string is barely recognizable. I guess if the neck had some extra tilt/relief, like a Reverend bolt-on, that would help a lot.

Maybe I will try it with my next re-string. No real harm in trying.

    Ahem. Fixed it.

Weren't these originally Essex? With a small "e" between the S and X?
Pronounced "Eh...sex." on the maximum ennui setting...
