I just ordered this and can’t wait to get it so I’m sharing with everyone a bit early! My only experience with a “Strat” was an ash USA G&L Legacy in Mary Kay with a Birdseye maple neck and fretboard. Although I’m certain this won’t be as good, it is the one guitar I have always regretted selling and I think this will fill my empty single coil soul nicely. Props to Mossman for giving me the inspiration! 22781BE2-9D36-4C1A-BBCB-DC85808A05BA.jpeg

I haven’t been led astray by anyone on here yet. Funny thing is, this will be the cheapest guitar I’ve ever owned and I definitely think that’s a huge part of the excitement!

Let us know if yours fits in a Fender HSC case. Mine didn't.

I will but it may take a while. I don’t have one and I live 50 miles from the nearest useful music shop.

That was my main gripe about it, and since I do have Fender cases, it really bugged me. Mine had quite a nice neck and the CAR paint job was good.

The body was too wide. I have a photo on my computer but I'm not at it right now. I did post about that when I got it but it was about 5 years ago, and those pix were probably on Botophucket so they wouldn't show up anyway. :-(

EDIT: my review is here: http://www.aguitarforum.com/threads/review-sx-hawk-car.5638/#post-85498 and it has photos but the one of the guitar in the case must be in a different thread. I searched, but couldn't find it.

That trans-blue finish seems to be a popular favorite. I wish I grabbed a Furrian in that color when I had a chance.

Does anyone know if these will accept standard Fender replacement parts? Bridge, pickguard, etc...

Mine would not take a Fender guard. I had forgotten that. I think you might have to get a replacement bridge/trem from GFS if you want to change it. They have bridges and blocks that are made for these imports. But you may not need to do any of that. On mine, the tuners were the weak link; I liked the pickups.

That sounds nice, right in my wheelhouse! What’re you using for a slide and what effects were running?

Yeah, my wife said it is the most beautiful guitar she’s ever seen and I just can’t ignore that! Lol! My money is on the aforementioned Legacy but if mine shows up looking like the one in the pic I’ll be a very happy man!

Honestly, I don't remember if that was a glass slide (but that's my guess) or a piece of mike stand, which is what I used to use. Probably some delay for effects; I seem addicted to it.

I am guessing you will like the Hawk. They may have corrected the body issue by now, too.

They may have. I noticed that the headstock is different on the new models as opposed to any of the reviews I was able to find on YouTube. But every one had positive things to say so there’s that. Rondo has already emailed that my guitar is ready to ship. Nice, I obviously didn’t want to wait the 3 days they said it could take to ship on their website. Much faster than the 3100mcc I ordered previously.

I have the lefty version of that and I can tell you it looks every bit as good in real life as it does in the Rondo pictures (believe it or not)...

So what are your other impressions of the guitar?

I really don't remember as it's been several months since I last picked it up. I upgraded the electronics and swapped in a set of hand wound Rose Gilmour pickups so that aspect of it would be lost. I'll try to find some time tonight to go grab it. Judging from my postings in an old NGD thread of @honyock who also bought one way back when, I guess I was pretty impressed. Like most AGF threads, things go off on tangents but Nate's review is post #52 if you want to cut through the chaff:
