I've had a few used ones before. 3 to be exact. None were exactly how I would have ordered them new, but they were just great deals on Craigslist that I couldn't pass up. Ended up selling two of them right away for a profit, and I kept 1 for about 6 months before I couldn't stand the color anymore and had to flip it.

BUT .... this year I finally think I'm going to order one new from Jeff and have it made exactly the way I want. Prolly wait until my Xmas bonus comes in.

I'm still a sucker for the CS4/6 carvin. I'm not really into the crazy flame tops but I love a lot of the exotic/natural wood options they offer. Maybe someday....

Perfect excuse for me. All of my Carvins are excellent guitars, but my new Kiesel Vader is hands down the best guitar I have ever played. So light and comfortable and the new K12 pickups are perfect for me. Sad to say, my other Carvins are feeling a bit neglected since the Vader showed up.

I also just noticed that they eliminated the CS4 as a custom option. Now it's just the CS3 or a full-on CS6. Probably due to the new kiesel options but that's a bummer.

I see them pop up in my FB every day and some of them are just over the top stupid beautiful and Carvin stuff is top-notch in build and quality. For myself I just couldn't justify it, I'm not anywhere near a good enough player to justify it. But if one of you guys gets one I'll GAS vicariously through you.

^^^ Nice, but I think it would look better with black diamonds on that purpleheart fretboard.

I'm not that good of a player either, but I cherish the free time I get to spend playing guitar. I don't want to settle anymore for anything less than EXACTLY what I want in an instrument. Woods, hardware, fret size, radius, color, ect... All of it.

Guitar playing is important to me, and my favorite hobby. That's all I need to justify it. The way I see it, it's $100 a month for the next year and 1/2. I spend more than that on beer every month. Look for a Kiesel NGD thread from me after the holidays.

Is that an X100b head the Vader is sitting on?

I found a full stack on my local CL with one of those heads and 2 4X12 cabs for $400 bucks a while back. Both the cabs and the head were covered in a funky gray carpeting type stuff and they looked (and smelled) as though they had been in every bar in wisconsin at least once. Even though I have zero need I almost bought it as it sounded very cool and looked equally impressive. Alas I passed...but maybe another day.

I want a Carvin a fair bit -- I fell in love with the V220 in the 80s, and still want one today. The Vader is another one I like -- I've been jonesing for a headless guitar for a little while for no real reason.

They will put either on the headstock for you at no charge. There is a actually a third option though, which is a special request to have Jeff Kiesel himself build your guitar himself from the ground up. Including all the hand carving, finishing, and setup work. These are called "Kiesel Editions". I've heard (haven't looked in to it too heavily) that adds a standard $2000 upcharge.

What's weird is Carvin has been a name since before my time but I'd never heard of Kiesel until maybe this year. Now that name comes up all the time.

You're a lot better than I am, and thankfully my Les Paul is super comfortable to play.
