Copied from a post in another thread:

They got here yesterday but I didn't get home until almost 10pm so there was no time to do much more than snap a few quick indoor shots and a cursory inspection to make sure there was no shipping damage. Incidentally, they were both double boxed and had been opened and resealed so there was at least a minimal inspection before they were sent down to me.

First off, let me say that the build quality at least initially seems to be as good as any other Agile I own, old and new. I could see no imperfections or inconsistencies in their finishes, fret ends all smooth, binding clean with no overspray or smudges, tuners aligned properly, nuts cut well. The setup was good to great (string height on both at the 12th was about 2-2.5mm, just a tad wider than width of a quarter), pretty much playable right out of the box with no buzzing. Both were ordered with Wide necks (there's no extra charge for this with Custom Selects). Body thickness is just under 2" and the weight on both is about 8.25-8.50 lbs.

As for the finishes themselves, it was late and under artificial light but I was initially a little underwhelmed. Although the purple quilt is starting to grow on me the color is definitely understated and not as vibrant as previous Tribal Red and Tribal Blue Agiles and a green quilt AL-2800 Uniform (or a green Lizard Quilt Raven West LP that got here a few days before these). The CSB plain top however is exactly that, plain. I was expecting something with a more pronounced grain pattern like a CSB Greco and VB Gibson Studio that I have but it's pretty bland. Still, although the pictures might not show it (you really need to know what you're doing to not make a good burst look like a clown burst) the burst gradient is quite good so no complaints there. I'll try to take some outdoor pics either later today or tomorrow.

Over all, I'd say I was more than satisfied with what I paid for what I got:

Hi John. What were your custom features wanted (if you don´t mind me asking)? Only finish?Or are there any other subtle details (wood, hardware, PUs,nut width, etc)?

Both look good. How do they look in sunlight?

I like theplaintop sunburst one better than the purple one - but I find it interesting that you have those bits of amber in the purple top,
kind of sets off the knobs nicely.

Both have Wide (1 3/4" nut) necks which were no additional charge, the quilt top was a $25 charge, left-handed was an additional $35. The upgrade options are quite limited on Custom Select orders:

I haven't had them outside yet so I don't yet know how they look in natural light.

It took a little over six months from the time of order and payment to delivery...

I wish that or even just MOP was an option on Custom Selects...

FWIW, I'll have a dupe CSBF AL-3000 and CSBF AL-3010SE with HSCs for sale in a few weeks, that's what these two are replacing....

This one's finish is much darker than the one in the product listing. Here's a couple of outside shots but it's overcast and about to rain (the patio really needs some Roundup and bleach):

Usually they wipe dye on the raw maple, then sand back (some porous areas remain dyed) and wipe on dye again. One the one I linked above, the manufacturer sanded back to raw maple ( or so it appears), dyed no further and then shot the purple burst. Stronger contrast, I guess. The left more dye on yours. I think it looks good. The purple is a better match with those neck inlays.

Thats a purple quilt burst I would prefer. Its subdued. Purple is a color I would not want all bright and flashing quilt. In fact, I never thought I'ld like any purple until that one.

I also like the thin binding with the plain.

Its the "wide" feel that would be most important to me.
It looks like there is a good amount of fretboard to the outside of 1st and 6th strings. Do you like the feel?

Other than a few minutes more than the time it took me to tune them both up, I haven't really played them. Based on my experience with a few other Agile Wides (older AL-3000, AL-2500 and an AS-820), that's why I went with Wide on these. While there is no difference between the string distance on Agiles with 1 5/8" and 1 11/16" (Gibsons and Epiphones are the same too), there is one on these. However, if there had been any kind of significant charge for a wider neck at the nut (by the middle of the neck, the difference is insignificant), I would have been happy with the standard Agile width...

Hope to see both in the sunlight. I like plain tops and that purple looks nice.

As long as you are bathing in it, using proper protective gear, it isn't gonna be any worse than using a cell phone or baby powder or any other thing that supposedly causes cancer.

I remember seeing this for the first time several years ago and really had to laugh. He says Glyphosate isn’t harmful to humans and when asked to drink it he says he’s not an idiot. He just contradicted his previous statement lol
