OK so I just saw a commercial for A-Team the movie. Is this a good thing or a bad thing. I'm so confused. How am I supposed to feel about this? What do you guys think?:dunno:

I saw one trailer for it months ago but haven't gone out of my way to see one since. I used to watch the programme when I was a teenager in the '80's but never went out of my way for it. If it's got the kind of tongue in cheek humour that I'm hoping it will have then it'll be a good popcorn flick (and frankly that's all I'm hoping for from it)

Well, the preview I saw was short but looked OK. But I grew up watching the show(I'm 31) and I just don't know if it'll be able to capture the essence of the A-Team.

It's gonna be like every other remake of a tv show or movie that's come out in the past 10 years or so... utter and complete crap.

(With the obvious exception of Battlestar Galactica of course... that ROCKED!!) :p:bigthumb:

Except of course for the fact that that's not true at all.

I remember when the TV series first came out. I thought it was crap then.

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

This after just finding out a new "Karate Kid" movie is coming out. :uh:

Why can't Hollywood come up with any new ideas?!?!

People say that these new movies are terrible and I agree in many cases, but is it that the movies are actually BAD, or that they can live up to the nostalgic expectations in our heads? I only ask this because I can watch the old versions of these shows they redo and they are NEVER as good as I remember. Typically i am looking at the screen thinking... "I actually used to LIKE this show???" :eek3:

Well if its like the TV show it'll be loaded with stupid one liners about 300 car crashes and at least 3000 bullets fired and not one person shot. Then after all that the A team will complete their mission and drive into the sunset leaving it open ended so they can do a part 2 and make another stupid movie although it will really just be the same movie. And America will gobble it up

"that they can't live up to the nostalgic expectations in our heads"

    This.

So many people are so caught up this idea that there's no "new" movies and that ALL remakes are bad. In reality, I'd argue that the percentage of good ones is right in line with the percentage of good movies overall. The issue is just what you mentioned: nostalgia. We're so caught up on this idea that a new version is going to ruin our perception of the original. Remakes don't magically make the originals disappear. And, sorry, there's a lot of times where the only thing making the originals "better" is our far removed perception of them.

This is all compounded by everyone having the soap box that is the internet. So, now, we all gather online and bitch and moan about how Hollywood has no new ideas and all remakes suck. Guess what, there's plenty of completely new ideas being made into movies. Not only that but not all remakes and sequels suck. Not only that, remakes are nothing new. Not only that, some great movies were remakes. The Wizard of Oz that we all know (the one that a lot of people consider one of the greatest films ever made), for example, was the third time that story was made into a film.

We all just need to learn to not just be whiny bitches in the internet age.

(the Karate Kid remake IS going to suck, however. How do I know this? Jackie Chan is teaching the kid kung fu, yet they're still calling it Karate kid, for starters)

If they don't make it as a 'spoof movie' then it's an absolute waste.
There is no reason to take the "A Team" and modernize it into a big
production film. The whole attraction was it's 'hokieness' and without
that, it's gonna be grasping at straws.

Nobody can "out T" Mr. T! I'm not expecting much of this film, unless it is slapstick...

A spoof movie would be a great idea.
