Solo, you and an acoustic (or semi) guitar original, or a solo acoustic cover recently recorded for this event. Sound quality is less the issue, over heart in your performance and song choice. Prefer no signal amplification, but if you feel you need it to get your point across, sure. Video entry is best, but audio only also acceptable. But lets not process/produce these up, because it keeps the playing field much more level for everyone.

Taking entries until around the end of July - I will be traveling around that time and still firming up
up my schedule but entries might go slightly into august. Then there will be a week of judgment.

please post 'em here. Friendly trash talk, and banter, encouragements also welcome. I was wanting to start this thread with a selection from myself, but only was able to arrange today, and had not enough time to rehearse because my fingers are basically girly fingers and now shredded and hurtin'.

We have at least ten of you already committed, but I would be very nice to see more, and of course more than one entry per person welcome. Remember this is less a contest, more a good long OPEN MIKE session, and everybody who wants a turn gets a chance to put this audience under your spell.

Grand Prize will (at the very least) be one Custom Helsinkirocks guitar pick because... AWESOME!
but the real prize will be in taking part, and sharing with your AGF brothers

    Let the pickin' begin!

Guess there's no harm in going first. One lyric slip, one chord fudge. In my defense, I had just learned the song. Been meaning to get to it for a while

Here's mine. Temple of the Dog cover.

Sorry, no video. I DID try to do that while I recorded this, but it was WAY too much shit to focus on and then try to look at the fuckin' phone while I was at it.

Yes, there is some chorus on the guitar to make it darker (dark song) as well as reverb on both mics because it was too dry without it. But I tried to keep it raw and unproduced otherwise Brad @tvvoodoo

Recorded live with 2 condenser mics. Just me and an acoustic guitar. No overdubs or edits, just pressed record and let it fly - warts and all. My voice is beat to shit, too much pollen, coughing, been drinking too much and smoking too much weed lately. Singing shit like this sitting down while playing guitar is always fun too :)

It took me like 2 hours of doing half the song and moving mics around over and over again to get guitar bleeding into vocal mic and vocal bleeding into guitar mic balance good enough where it sounded decent.

I'm gonna "re-release" this in July in my own thread as my monthly cover as well :)

And, yeah, I dedicate this to Chris Cornell.

Holy crap you really did justice to that song. And Chris too.
You're making it real hard to bother submitting. Especially since mine is a CC song also. Shows I have even more huberis than you have talent. :)

Great stuff! And top marks for song choice. That song blew me away first time I heard it back in 87 and it's still one of my favorites.

I'll probably put in an entry too ..although it's likely to be soundcloud only. Working on a new up-to-date version (re-written lyrics) of an old Child Ballad. I wish I could sing as well as you and the others here though.

@tvvoodoo Is it okay to throw in a bit of harmonica too a la Dylan style?

GTR 22.JPG I did a good one today. This is how I present myself "somewhat" unplugged. The FX make a big difference with this material. I am playing my cheapest guitar here .It may not even be wood although I think parts of it's makeup actually grew. This is me , doing what I do.

Somewhat on a roll today playing with my Golden Age preamp.
Preamp really colors the vocal and gives it presence and air.

I'm gonna wait until the last possible moment, rush it and be disappointed with my lack of effort.
    Or not.

Wouldn't be an AGF unplugged if I didn't unload my shit all up in here. Not eligible for competition, but certainly for ridicule.
Was watching a BBC doc on Marc Bolan this afternoon, figured I'd drop a fresh one on the thread.

I added the long lost third verse, that until now nobody had ever heard before.
Anybody else practicing, arranging or recording this weekend?

I swear guys, for anyone struggling to learn to play whole songs through... this is one of the best musical $20 I have ever spent.

    https://chordify.net/

armed with pretty much basic chords and a capo, (and they are all laid out for you if you need them) you can acoustify almost any song you can imagine, put your own twist on it
save them in one place. It's really a great tool. I have a big thick music binder of song cheats that took me 30 years to put together, since I found this site, and subscribed, I don't
think I've cracked it twice. Of course it's hard to drag the website to the party... but it's a huge confidence builder and practice tool.

This afternoon alone I worked through not bad versions of Dog and a butterfly, Dreamboat Annie, Let it be, and even Party in the USA LOL!

I love the concept, but she needs a bit of polish for sure, I won't mind if you go back and re-submit later this month.
Shouldn't you be... unplugged? happy laundry day

This thread is all about sharing. OPEN MIC fellas, who's up?

Sorry I deleted this . Yes it is a bit rough but it was made up on the spot. That is the 1st and only time I played the song. Only shared this sketch because I really like some of this recording. I may finish up a bit better and re record or maybe not.
Just showing you don't need an acoustic. Or skill or talent in my case. It is just the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Or if you record naked, perhaps stick to soundcloud.
Damn Dryer. I would have had more lyrics.
