Guitar arrived a day early (thank you FedEx!)

The flaw that was shown in the listing was not the only one, there is also a pretty nice scuff on the back edge of the horn and a weird dulling of the finish on the back edge of the cutaway.

More troubling is the fretboard. I'm not sure if it is typical of these 3010SEs to have such grainy light fret boards, I haven't really paid attention to the NGDs for them as much as others to be honest, but it sort of ruins the look for me. It looks more like rosewood than ebony. (my Harm on the right for comparison)

The guitar itself plays well, there are no other issues with it.

Thought 3010's were rosewood? Listing error?

Anyway, good price for that guitar.

Regardless of the additional flaws, still a great deal at that price. I'm not sure how I missed that one but even though I've already got an AL-2000 Silverburst, it would have been really tough trying to pass it up...

I do prefer this silverburst to my Gibson SG 70s Tribute though. It has metalflake in it that really makes it pop.

Shoot that's less than I paid for mine used. I think mine is ebony, looks like it.

I really wanted to dislike this guitar due to the fretboard, but it has won me over. It is a fair deal/price still, but I always question if this is truly ebony

I even did a wee little mod, installed a chrome metal jack plate.

I tried to polish out the scuff a bit with regular polish, but it is a bit too deep. Perhaps some Perfect It rubbing compound next.

Mine is ebony if it isn't then my 3100 doesn't have ebony either. Some ebonies are light a in american ebony ( persimmon). Could be the former owner removed any dye on the board. Does it feel like one or the other?

It feels awfully similar to my Agile rosewood fretboards (Valkyrie, AD2300, TC625). If I drag a fingernail tip or pick backwards across grain it catches in the small bumps just like rosewood.

It does not feel like my ebony equipped Agiles (AL3200, my Harm, or even my AD201) or my Heritage. Those just feel smooth.

Well, if all those flaws really start getting on your nerves, let me know...:)
