Need a little AGF input...realized I never upgraded the knobs on my AL3100 Silverburst with the SS frets that I grabbed from GC last year, and it's something I always really enjoy changing on my guitars (minus the ones that already came with cool custom ones).

    A few options here:

1). Chrome dome knobs with mother of pearl tops (would match the MOP block inlays and hardware)
2). Black dome knobs with mother of pearl tops (would match the ebony board, pickguard, burst edges, etc)
3). UFO knobs (same options as above)

Here's a pic of the guitar for reference:

You probably don't want to hear my opinion, but i like the ones that are on there just fine - just like what an original silverburst would have had. Also - what's a UFO knob?

Black with the MOP tops. Anything else may look funky (IMO)

Nah, all opinions welcomed otherwise I wouldn't have made the post :). I don't dislike how the original ones look, but I feel like they're kind of boring and this is one of my favorite Agiles and really deserves something nicer in my opinion.

    This is a UFO knob:

This black UFO with the MOP would actually make it look very 70s. Go this route lol

Black with MOP tops (already voted for that option).

    I prefer the original knobs.

And my only advice as you decide which to switch to is that you'll want something that you can grip to pull easily.

I used one of my 3100MCCs for a full gig last week. It does a great job of single coil sounds when split, but those tone knobs can be hard to pull out on the fly.

I like it as is. The ones equipped are easier to spin while playing, I find.

I agree with @uwmcscott and @Lamf77 but if you must, then the UFO/MOP.

@Mr. Leyvatone makes a good point, some styles of knobs are not the best for push/pulls if you use coil-splitting a lot. I've got a couple Gibson Studios with coil tapping and they use push/push pots which really make a world of difference. It's a moot point if yours doesn't have splitting but if it does and that feature is used frequently, I'd definitely swap out the push/pulls for push/push pots...

Not an issue for me on this particular guitar, it's actually one of the only ones I own that doesn't have push pull pots :).

I might just order up a set of each (UFO MOP and regular dome MOP) and see what I like better. Can always reuse 'em on something else if they don't take.

Good idea, that way you rationalize the purchase of another guitar to use the spare set of knobs on. I always did that with pickups but a set of knobs is much cheaper. I'm going to start doing it that way...:)

I had these on my silverburst LPC for a while, ended up going back to the black speed knobs for ease of use

This is what I have on my custom made LP; and I have the same on my Silverburst SG.

The only thing that needs is to take the covers off the humbuckers. Black speed knobs are already perfect.
