Pickguard or not?

  1. Yes, keep it. It's supposed to be there.

  2. No, dump it. The body is too nice.

Beautiful, but ......IT'S BACKWARDS!!! All joking aside, I almost like the back better than the front. Cool guitar.

Pick guards are for degenerates, deplorables, dipshits, dickheads, and dumbasses. I would remove it, but you may or may not want to keep it depending on how you would categorize yourself. :D

Beautiful guitar with or without the pick guard! My AL-3500 never had a pick guard, so no screw holes. I prefer that, but cannot bring myself to remove a pick guard from any other Les Paul because the holes would bug me. Since yours already has one, I would leave it on, but to each his own!

I guess I'm one too. I picked up a b-stock custom AL-3100 a couple years ago that came without a pickguard and I immediately put one on it. The same thing with a 50s Tribute LP. I was a little nervous drilling holes in a Gibson but I managed..

Congratulations. I voted to keep the pickguard. The guitar looks vacant without it. I tend to prefer pickguards on most guitars, but some I prefer without one (I've always taken the pickguard off every Casino I've owned), but (with very few exceptions) an LP style doesn't look right without one.

The photos on the Rondo site are well known around these parts for not being a good representation of what the guitar actually looks like. Usually, they look considerably better in person, so we don't complain about that too much. :) He's been taking photos the same way since forever, so it's unlikely he's going to change (despite our helpful suggestions).

I think you'll find the stock pickups to be acceptable, but not great. Most of us replace them. I have a set of Tonerider A2 Classics in my 3100MCC, and I love them. The stock pickups were ok, but honestly, I think the pickups they were using years ago were better.

I like your cat, but who's the cat in your avatar?

Being a Deplorable Despicable Degenerate Dysfunctional Dildoid Douchebag, I've decided to keep the pickguard.
Definitely changing the knobs to cream also.
That's Mr. Snowball, my guitar coach. As you can see by the Avatar pic, he does not tolerate poor playing (That's one of his previous students in the background).
He's got me on probation, and has threatened the loss of my eyelids and earlobes if I don't keep up my practice regimen...

IMHO, both are the right decision. Be careful when ordering crème knobs, some are more amber and won't match. I'll try to find out where I ordered my last set from...

HNGD! Purchasing my Lefty Oceanburst 3200MCC is how I found this great forum. I picked mine up on Ebay last year from the original owner who only had it for a few months. Since then all hell has broken loosewith nearly uncontrolable GAS :guitar:

I put a set of chrome knobs on mine with the Abolone inlays in them to match the fretboard. As far as the pickguard goes it's a mater of what you like. Lately I've started taking them off to enjoy the clean look, but haven't done so as of yet with my 3200.

Nice! Yea I'm not one of the ones in the LP pickguard camp, esp with maple/quilt flame tops, it does work on solid color guitars.

Been in the market for a oceanburst floyd ever since Rondo sold their last one. ;)

Hey, what's that purple tele U got hiding there in the background?

Never tried the cheap route ebay seller Guitarmadness, but I have a couple his other products and like them.

    Thats a beauty.
I love those colors, the ebony, and that sculpted heel.

    Same here!
It's cool to see another lefty 3200 oceanburst. Yours looks more faded around the edges than mine. Like the knobs!

The purple guitar is a Reville Q90 heavily modded, known in these parts as "The Purple People Eater".
    Full fret job and setup.
It's got a PRS style Aumsen solid CNC brass tremolo, saddles and block and hand cut brass nut.
I installed Kluson slotted tuners and roller string tees.
Pickups are Guitar Madness Alnico V p-90s.
Upgraded CTS A500k tone pot with a .022 oil cap, and a CTS A500k volume.
Added a Tele 4-way switch for series/ parallel function.
Since I made so many changes, I put my name on the headstock (hubris, anyone)?
I want to paint the headstock a matching purple color, but am having a hard time finding a good match.
The guitar plays great, with a really cool sound only P90s can do.
I didn't think I'd ever want a purple guitar (especially with a meat pickguard), but I kept coming back to this one on ebay and finally pulled the trigger about two months ago.
Big shout out to Reville, they make some really unique guitars for not much $$$ (mine was $189)

@Cozmic3200 Welcome to AGF, and HNGD! It´s a 3200 so it is instant liking for me! I´m the AL3200less crazy fan member.

Voted for PG on, and amber knobs work better IMHO, nice contrast.

Last time I qualified as moron for not having a strat and a tele, now I qualify for all these awards too? :ROFLMAO::):) PG lover here. It´s not a perfect world.

Enjoy your 3200! Best of the best.

I almost bought one of those Rev P90 a couple of years ago, but wanted a hardtail.
