If anyone's interested in seeing what real day to day life in the Bangkok suburbs is like...this guy's channel on YouTube is the ticket. His channel is called ExploreMore and he basically just walks around with a camera, ni touristy crap , just walking thru neighborhoods and no talking. This is his latest...this particular area is not too far removed from where I live.

Looks pretty much like what I expected. Probably an acquired taste, but could be nice.

Bangkok is a study in contrasts. Just a 15 minute walk from this area is Icon Siam, one of the largest and most opulent malls in the world. Transportation is easy, tasty food is available everywhere and affordable , and pretty girls are out and about. Oh yeah.. Did I mention the best part of Bangkok compared to the USA? I can walk or travel anywhere anytime Day or night without much fear of mugging or being a victim.. Something to be learned right there.

I've spent considerable time in the Philippines, Korea, and the Middle East so I can certainly understand the appeal of living in a place like Thailand more than most here. If I decide to exit the rat race early, it's pretty likely I'll go to the Philippines (albeit probably not Manila for the complaints that @STACKS mentions).

Not my idea of a place to live but to each his/her own. I like open spaces.

Food? Everywhere. Traffic? Just starting up. I think that it would be vary hard to adjust to the constant stimulus there.

Thanks for sharing! I was born in Bangkok. However, I lived most of my life in the Philippines and went to college in Manila. The video scenes reminded me a lot of Manila! It's very similar!

I live in the US Midwest suburbs now. Lots of open spaces indeed!

The human brain adjusts in time. In fact I anticipate it will be difficult to sleep at first at the new house because save for the sounds of geckos and tropical birds it's dead silent at night. Now, my brain actually filters out all the city sounds but still almost like white noise at this point.

The hardest part to adjust to is the availability of food everywhere but part of Thai culture is to snack when you feel like it.. So when in Rome..

I've never been a city person myself and rarely venture out to where Large mobs of sheeple gather
much preferring the solitude and greenery of nature

That is not appealing to me at all.
Looks like Hotel living to me.
I need much more open space than that.

Yeah that area reminds me of Espana in particular in Manila. Although I don’t see much graffiti except bawal umihi ditto (don’t pee here).

Well, I lived in a hotel for about a year and a half after my house burned down.....

Call me crazy, but I'm happy here

Always enjoy your contributions. Especially the photos of beautiful girls. And the food stuff, too. I love to cook and I've gotten some ideas and learned a thing or two from your food threads. Would mind to explore there. I want to go fishing.
