Today at an antique mall I scored another crazy bundle deal. Truthfully, most of the things in this place aren't bona fide antiques, though I have pulled some doozies out of there in the past. Nothing like today though.

Say hello to Mom, Pop, and Kelly . . . Kelly Jackson that is.

The Jackson guitar is a bolt on Kelly. It feels very nice, is missing the truss rod cover, and has some light superficial corrosion on the hardware. I think it looks gorgeous in white and has great potential. Wonderful, silky smooth neck on this thing. Serial number is NHJ1040321 for anyone who can decipher that. I'm curious to know when and where this was made.

The two pieces of art are genuine Chinese ancestor portraits done on rice paper, probably from the 19th century. The subtle coloring and level of detail are absolutely stunning. These are truly fine art pieces, completely hand painted. I've never seen a more exquisite pair. If you have any idea what these things are, then you will know that paired with the Jackson I stole the lot at $140.

With Mom and Pop you can start a CPOP group "One Hung Too Low"

Interesting stuff! The Kelly is one of the newer entry level models, the JS32T. They’re made in Indonesia.

Hard to decide which Kelly is hotter.

Great score! The derail in the artwork is crazy. Nice axe too but be careful you don't put an eye out with that thing ;)

Those paintings are so cool. And that Kelly is an absolute ripper. My bassist had one (like ten years ago) and I used it at a show. Thing was like butter. Awesome scores.

    An update on the Jackson.

As I said in the OP, some of the hardware had some rust on it. It all came apart and went into a vinegar and salt bath.

Very interesting this. Does this bridge date to 1993? Could this guitar possibly be that old?
    fullsizeoutput_8a9.jpeg

Neck plate. 7 digit serial number.
    fullsizeoutput_8a5.jpeg

Jackson CVR2 pickups. Fair to say there's no modifying them because they're completely sealed. Bridge is about 9.8K, neck is around 9.7K. Definitely ceramic magnets. They don't sound terrible, kinda halfway between a JB and a Distortion. They've got the mid push of a JB but the stiffness and compression of ceramic.
    fullsizeoutput_8a7.jpeg

Full sized pots and a Switchcraft style switch. Everything works and sounds fine.
    fullsizeoutput_8a6.jpeg

All cleaned up, frets dressed, neck oiled, strings changed. Plays exceptionally well. Wonderful neck, very resonant body and excellent sustain with the string through setup.

Now that's a Kelly. For some reason I even like the hard tail rather than the Floyd.

It wouldn't look bad with the Kelly B. pic on it, though. I mean, that's the right era.
