    LOL.

“With a little luck, we’ll get all 97 performers to play together as a headlining act… but not, like, together together. Not, like, in sync or anything,”

News satire is a type of parody presented in a format typical of mainstream journalism, and called a satire because of its content. News satire has been around almost as long as journalism itself, but it is particularly popular on the web, with websites like The Onion, where it is relatively easy to mimic a legitimate news source. News satire relies heavily on irony and deadpan humor.

    @proped It's a satire site.
GC has legitimately had financial issues. When Fender was doing it's IPO, we all found out how much money it owed to Fender. I don't know if I've seen any evidence they'll be closing any time soon, but they've borrowed a lot of money in order to expand the way they have.

Even though it's a parody, it hits the target because it's so true.

I love Sweetwater, and having a retail background I really appreciate it when a company gets it right. Their customer service has been phenomenal. I don't mind paying a little extra to know that they'll help when something goes wrong or breaks, and they've repeatedly gone the extra mile to help me out.

That said, I would gladly shop at Guitar Center if they provided customer service at that same level. Call me old school, but I really do miss the experience of actually physically going shopping.

Yeah, unfortunately I'm less than 5 miles from the GC that we made infamous a few weeks back. They also sold me a PRS 513 with wiring problems. I'm not super fond of them although I do buy strings from them and visit them once or twice a month. Music Go Round St Charles, Driftwood Music, etc. are much better options where I'm at.

I am proud to say that I bought my new Vox amp last night... From a locally owned independent shop!

I wish there was a MGR anywhere near me, as they often have cool gear and seem to be fairly knowledgable about what they sell...

Just about all my business goes to GC used courtesy of the insanely permissive return policy and the fact that I can get everything shipped to my local GC 5 minutes from my house (and be able to return something at the same GC easy peasy if something goes awry with the condition misrepresented, etc).

And lastly, though I know this article is satire I do sincerely sincerely hope that GC never goes out of business...every killer steal I've gotten in the last 6-7 years (minus one or two Agiles purchased on Reverb) has been from GC used. That place is a gold mine!

Part of this is my fault, I'm the one who moved to a place an hour away from a large metro. However, I can't even go there for strings...

    EB Cobalt bass 4 strings:

    GC is 29.99 plus tax

Amazon has them for 26.99 no tax, it's a Prime item, and none of my fuel is used to get them. Even Sweetwater has them cheaper than GC, and they're never out of stock on any variety. All I have to do is plan ahead. I have a few spares of each type of strings I use and I replace the packs I open with an Amazon order ASAP so I never have to be at the mercy of deliver times.

Again, I don't mind paying more if the service is there. But when GC is more expensive and we have to deal with this type of sales professional when we do happen to walk in...

    upload_2018-12-13_0-3-26.png

They are of no use to me if they don't stock what I'm looking for, can't hire with customer service in mind, and are more expensive on the things I buy regularly.

The truly sad part: these are not difficult things to fix. They could do so if anyone in authority were in any way interested in keeping the place open.

Mini Super Beetle! It's friggin' ADORABLE!
Sounds good too. Especially when it's on the table and I'm sitting, so the speaker's right at ear level.

Three months ago a new Guitar Center opened close to me, so claims that the corporation is in its death throes are puzzling.

Until I walk into a GC that looks as bad as the local KMart did before Christmas, I will not believe they will be closing any time soon. I figured KMart was already in the process of closing, but it had not been announced. Sure enough, they announced it would be closing in spring of 2019 not long after that visit.

All the shelves are stocked at both the old and new GC by me. The stores look to be in good repair, so I'd say they expect to be there for the foreseeable future.
