as many of you know, I finally built and completed my Strat project. I did the Gilmour seven way wiring which isn’t working exactly right. The diagram I used shows all of the pickups wired traditionally. I was forwarded a different schematic that showed the bridge pickup needed to be wired in reverse (white to ground, Black to selector). Would this cause the mini toggle to not function corrctly(neck is always on except in middle position)? Also, the tone pots don’t seems to have much effect on tone. I’ve check the wiring several times and the bridge not being reversed is the only error I can find. What do you folks think? Oh, and the middle pup is really/rp in case that has an effect on things. Thanks!

Thanks all, it’s amazing how many different ways there are to do this. The switch I used is just a simple two prong on/off mini toggle and the five way switch has the same lug layout as in the diagram. It’s one of the few parts I used from the old pickguard.

But is your 5 way configured like a Stew mac switch or like an Oak switch? Really you need to look at that link.

Neither, it looks like the CRL switch layout.

Maybe it’s the original Fender switch...

The only thing I see you can do with a added mini toggle is to add a pickup to the positions that it is not there.

For an easy '7-way,' wire the bridge with the ground & hot wire where they normally go. Run an additional wire from the hot wire on the switch for that pup, to the mini switch. Run a wire from the other terminal of that mini switch back to the selector switch tab with the hot wire that goes to the outside lug of the pot.

Note: no matter how fancy you get with other ways of doing this, you'll never make the 'neck' + 'bridge' hum cancel, because you'd have to revers the magnet polarity on the fly (I don't think anyone has conquered how to do this with single coils yet).

My method will allow you to bring in the bridge pickup in any ot the 5 selections. It results in '7' combinations: the first 5, 'all on' when the mini is 'on' and the selector is in position #4 and 'tele' mode (bridge + neck) in position #5 (normally neck only). Positions #1 & #2 are not affected, because you already have the bridge pup in on those selections.
