The AL-2000 is arguably the guitar that made Rondo "famous." What's not to like? Definitely getting your $219.99 worth with that guitar.

I love mine. Definitely heavy, but a good axe out of the box and a great mod platform if it isn't to your tastes as-is. Try to talk them down from $219. It was 5 years ago, but I got mine for 179 new...

If you like that finish then go for it. If you are settling for that and want a flametop wait for it. Prices come out about the same.

I miss the days that Guitar Center sold used guitars at a price appropriate of a used guitar, not more than new...

That was fast. I wish I could pass GAS on a specific guitar in the matter of a couple of hours.

It works both ways. The employees are more often than not clueless. Sometimes they'll overprice a guitar, other times, they'll underprice it and you can get a ridiculous deal.

That said - this price is on the high end, but isn't completely out of whack for an AL-2000. Maybe $20-70 too much. I've seen them sell for this much.

I'm forever spoiled by my $190 AL3k with case...
However a quick glance at their Agile stock and pretty much every one is priced at or well above new prices. $300 AL2ks, $400 Al3010SEs, etc.

I'm not seeing any gold in that "black & gold" description.

$219 for a 2000? That doesn't seem like a good price to me. I might be jaded from the prices i've gotten on my used Agiles.

I would get a 3K over a 2K every single day of the week, and you can often find a 3K for like $30-40 more than they're asking for this 2K...so I personally wouldn't bother with a 2K model unless it was a really great deal (aka like $100-$130 out the door). They were only $200 new because at the time they were the lowest end AL model Agile offered.

Oh they still do, just take a browse through all my NGD threads here on AGF lol...99% of 'em in the last couple of years have been courtesy of Guitar Center.

GC used is still a goldmine, and there are tons of amazing deals to be had there. I've purchased guitars there that are $3K new for $500-$600 more than a few times. The reason people have the viewpoint that you expressed here is because the guitars that are a killer deal are gone in a blink, and then the ones that are overpriced sit there for months and months, so it seems like everything is overpriced.

Yeah it's tough for lefties in general, obviously way fewer of those coming up for sale to begin with. You're probably doing this already but make sure to keep an eye on the other usual suspects too (Reverb, MusicGoRound, etc). They do pop up from time to time.
