Joyo, Donner, Belcat, et al. - what's your pick for a cheap and quiet Tremolo pedal?
Digitech TR-7 used, Great sounds and built like a tank, plus includes Leslie sims!
I grabbed the $9 Behringer from Musicians Friend 'bout a year ago..no complaints
Even though it's not the cheapest I got to say the boss tremolo. I say that because it has the control on the waveform so I found it much more useful than a lot of other trim pedals. It makes it feel very smooth and not choppy.
Also in true anderton's fashion let's do best tremolo by busting the bank. How about buying a big Vox or Fender tube amp and using the built-in tremolo.
Thanks James! I like your style!
$25 Dano Cool Cat Tremolo. No tone suck. Does the hard & soft
I was going to say that. It is a yellow foot pedal.
The one you are thinking of is close and a good value, but has a hard plastic housing and is named after some food. This is grey in an odd-shaped, slightly larger than a standard Hammond 2"x4"x1" pedal box.
I bought a Rogue (MF house brand) trem pedal years ago when they were blowing them out- cheap & cheerful, does what it's supposed to.
Suppose 'cheap' can be quite subjective especially when it comes to pedals, depends massively on your budget. Tremolo pedal guides like this and this tend to favour Boss Tremolo's which, whilst they're good, can often be a bit pricey.
I like to think I've done my research and my personal cheap favourite (under 50 quid) is the Donner 'Golden' tremolo, it's really compact and is just very easy to stomp on and off. The versatility of the pedal isn't amazing but for the price it's definitely worth testing out.
I got the joyo the big yellow one nothing fancy does what I want for cheap. Seems solid enough but I don't use it a lot either.
Mooer Trelicopter. $40 used
i use one of these old ibanez soundtank tl5's. can be had for ~$50 used
quite solid for a plastic pedal. doesn't add much noise if any. controls can be a little touchy.
I too have the Joyo JF-09, the $30. yellow one; works fine, not noisy.
I read it trims a little treble but I never noticed it.
There is something more natural about the tube trem on my 6g2 build though.
Another TR-2 user here. I'd pick up the Joyo tremolo and sell the Boss after reading all the great reviews and comments but I need the square/triangle setting which the Joyo doesn't have.
I haven't played any others, but my BOSS TR-2 really works for me and can be found used for pretty good prices.
@AaronHollister buy them all play until you find the one.
