They DO look nice. They won't put the headstock, because it says Chibson! hahahaha

Wonder if I could THIS one with a carved heel and floyd...

I'm guessing yes. In a few pics, you can almost make out the headstock from behind. I'm guessing these will have a G*bson logo and be stamped Made in U.S.A. with a fake serial number on the back of the headstock.

I came across a seller just last night called "chguitars". Same deal... All of their listing looked like AliExpress... Over the top finishes, no headstock shots, a few copies of "signature" guitars, etc.

I''ll bet if you look on AE, you'll find the exact same pictures that are used in eBay listings a few times over. At those prices, you'll be paying about $100 more than the same guitar through AE and you'll be replacing tuners, pickups, electronics and hardware. Have a fret dressing file handy too...

No thank you... With the exception of a decent 325/350 Rickenbacker copy, I have little interest in their offerings, not matter what platform they're selling them on..

chguitars has a Rosewood Telecaster that intrigued me for a moment, but none of the wood on that guitar looks the same. I don't see how it could possibly be rosewood with CITES and all, but I contacted the seller to ask what the neck was made of. It looks like a lighter wood that's been stained, and the fretboard looks more like Indian Laurel to me, and they don't mention a word about the neck woods at all in their listing. The seller insists everything is Rosewood... And was kinda rude about it. If it were cheaper, I might buy one just for the body, and I'm pretty sure it's a Rosewood veneer over Basswood or something, but it looks nice.

I think you mentioned a while back in a previous post that the Chinese sure know how to make a pretty guitar. I have yet to see or own a low end MIC guitar that didn't look absolutely gorgeous from a couple feet away. However, with very few exceptions, just about everything else about them I've found lacking. A universal rule that these generally do not deviate from is that you get what you pay for, and then a little less....

I'm not sure what "get what you paid for" even means anymore. Nearly Every $100 guitar I've seen In the last 5 years has been worth way more than than its cost. Yet every month I get insanely ripped off in my medical insurance, cable tv and mortgage bill.
None of those have been a value for the last 20 years

What I mean is that just about every low end MIC I've purchased (there have been a few exceptions) has required in time and materials (assuming you place some value on your time) the difference in price between it and say, a 3000 series Agile, recent Epiphone or Squier. If you're primary criteria is a well playing and well built guitar right out of the box with a minimum level of QC rather than a modding platform that has the potential to be one, then you're better off just sticking with the name brands (or equivalent) that I previously mentioned...

Well, you know, they play okay and make guitar sounds. So the Chibby stuff is okay at entry level. Good for entry level to have visual options I guess.

But totally agreed, that solid feel of quality doesn't come with them, usually.

I found that to be true with the earlier one that I got, but the last couple of ones have required minimal work, more specifically, usually regarding the nut slots. My guy has said the electronics have been fine in all of them and the pickups have been fine for me. My first one required replacing the pots, switch, nut and jack.

I agree on the Agile comparison. I have bought guitar styles, SG, Rick 325, and Teardrop which Agile doesn't offer. Next up for me is a Flying V.

    personally I like it.

hes almost being honest, AND hes got free shipping!

now if he can get it delivered in less than 6 weeks, we got a deal!

personally Id buy if he had sme differnet models. but he probably buys a container full, sells them and then orders another

The seller also has a pretty high feedback rating especially compared to all the other eBay Chibson sellers I've seen so far.

I was told that there's no upcharge for a lefty version, it just takes 15-16 days instead of 7-10 days for a right-handed one.

Damn it, I don't like this at all. I don't have any mortgage, auto or credit card payments but now that I just sold my business, I don't have a job or any steady income either...

You're safer purchasing a Harley Benton. It's Chinese made, and you may get a stinker now and then, but it hopefully will need less work than the Chibson and absolutely sound better. The electronics in a Harley benton are superior to what you get in the Chibsons.

That's still the plan but for a few reasons, it now probably won't be until about this time next year. In the meantime and despite my best intentions, the guitars keep piling up here. I wish I enjoyed playing them half as much as I enjoy buying them..:(

You couldn't enjoy playing them enough if you lived to 10000. I need to to live to about 400 as is to get my times worth.

I hear ya. I'm going to pull the trigger on a Flying V. I know they're impractical but just love the looks of them. My problem is that I can't make my mind up between a red one with white binding and MoP block inlays or a silverburst to match my LP and SG. I know, a first world problem!

Red one would have chrome hardware and white pickguard.
