My prize from the DCW Pedal Christmas Contest arrived yesterday and I've been putting this fantastic WOODSMAN Drive pedal through its paces. I want to thank @Snare227 (Dustin) again for hosting such a fun holiday thread, and what's more, for sending me free stuff! :)

Thanks again all you AGFers for voting for my snowman story.

The pics and sound demo say volumes about this quality piece of hardware, though I'll add a few comments.

The construction is rock solid. Visually it's elegant in its simplicity, an unpretentious and handsome tool for getting the job done. It came in a cute little satchel, which is a nice touch. I'll probably fill it with catnip and toss it around the house for feline entertainment. :smileycat:

Sonically it somewhat reminds me of a Tube Screamer, though with more air and clarity, and way more versatile. It also has a pleasing grit that to my ears is reminiscent of a Blues Driver, but more "hi-fi" I guess you could say. The "Fat" knob is very useful for thickening up the tone. The gain range goes from quite mild, almost like a boost, to hair metal territory, and is very sensitive (as are all the controls).

The inside of the pedal reveals some clean and meticulous work. It's some beautiful hand wired goodness. I'd love to show you guys a pic, though I'd like to see if it's cool with Dustin before I upload. Them pedal guys got their proprietary secrets.

Bottom line, it's an awesome piece of kit. Let me put it this way, I've got some cheaper Joyo pedals, some solid middle of the road stuff like BOSS and Ibanez, and some especially nice stuff too, like the Bogner Ecstasy Blue I recently acquired. But the DCW WOODSMAN runs right up there at the top of the pack with the best of them. Definitely a premium product and you hear it the moment you plug in and hit those first notes.

For guitars on the sound demo I used a Fender 60th Anniversary American Strat, a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul 1960 VOS (G0), and a Fender Blacktop "superstrat." I played through my 65 Amp London set as clean as I could get it (It's a Bluesbreaker clone, so you get the picture).

    0:00 - 0:36 . . . Fender Anniversary Strat, bridge singel coil, 1/2 gain
    0:37 - 1:25 . . . Fender Anniversary Strat, neck single coil, low gain
    1:26 - 2:05 . . . Fender Anniversary Strat, bridge single coil, 3/4 gain
    2:07 - 2:44 . . . Les Paul, bridge, moderate gain
    2:45 - 3:37 . . . Les Paul, bridge, neck, low gain
    3:38 - 4:36 . . . Fender Blacktop, bridge humbucker, high gain

My prize from Dustin also arrived today. I can't thank you enough! What a great contest, and
what a great thing to do for us ne'er-do-wells. Unfortunately I won't get to play with my new
pedal for a few days since my my amp is in the shop getting an overhaul. I'm sure it'll be
everything that toomanycats describes above, but I'll do another post once I'm able. The pedal looks and feels topnotch.....as nice as any pedal I've ever had.

It's already a "Collector's Item" simply because I've never won anything before....
