As always Corn your work is amazing!
Love the pbird.
Making a 12 string telecaster did you know these necks will work on a standard body just have to move the centerline up a little bit so the neck won’t hang off the bottom of the pocket
I’m calling this one the dirty slutty Mary Kay
‘51 Nashville custom color and custom mint green PG
Same green on this LP Jr
Very nice work as usual. Are most of your builds to keep for yourself or for others. If most are for you, how many are you up to now, and are you approaching tobijohn status?
I like the '51 pickguard on the tele.
And the Nashville with the tele bridge.
Jr. P90 wrap is supahot!
What do ya get when a Tele meets a Jaguar in a dive bar? Jag-ele’s ?, Tele’guars ? I don’t know but I’m about to find out ,, oh boy I’m off my meds again
Lol I don’t think I’ll ever catch tobijohn. That’s crazy talk i sell a few bodies locally and Rarely complete guitars
What’s up y’all, I haven’t been here in sometime but I occasionally come by like a Lotta things and laugh at a lot of things, still a great place. Here’s some crap I’ve been doing, it’s hard to do a complete build thread but I’ll start with this.
If you like fiesta red don’t pay $30 for one can of fiesta red ,go to Home Depot and get poppy red for seven dollars. One of these bodies is $30 paint and the other one is six dollar paint
making a few pick guards here’s one Partridge family serving tray I found it’s pretty groovy, the other one is made out of some copper I found that’s probably from the 1970s
I made this Mosri-Tele
Thanks for the tip, they look pretty much the same to me. I was going to be ordering the Fiesta Red from Reranch for an Explorer kit. Instead, off to Home Depot for Poppy Red (and it's actually only $4 for a 12oz can):
The product listing says it's a satin finish but if you're going to use a gloss clearcoat over it, I guess that really doesn't matter....
These are the two paints I used The Strat is the real fiesta red that I painted for somebody, there is a very slight difference not $25 worth in my book
I did not build this one I painted it for someone, the color is called French lilac, I custom made the pick guard for him also
I did not make this one either I just painted it , the color is called “real orange, “ I love this color combination with the tortoise pick guard
The stuff from Reranch is nitro and $18 for a 16oz can but the Rustoleum stuff is still a lot cheaper:
Yeah but they also charge another $10 or some ridiculous thing to ship it
How was the 2X stuff going on and how long did it take to fully cure? Also, how many cans for a typical body and did you use their 2X clearcoat over the color coat? I know nitro is more forgiving as far as applying it is concerned but considering the price difference...
I think it was even more. I added another can of GT gold & the shipping didnt increase. Glad I did, but I'll prob need more than the 1.5 cans I have for this next project.
That tort pg & orange is a killer combo. I might need to get one for my orange tele.
I would say the cheap Home Depot paint is way more forgiving than lacquer, I usually prime the guitar first it covers all the imperfection much better than lacquer. Are use gray 123 primer. I let the primer dry for a day or so before I paint, and then I let the paint dry for at least four five days or longer before I do any clear. One can well easily do Two guitar bodies
Yeah or you could get one of these fire fly’s for like $120? I was so tempted
This is my latest just finished it up couple weeks ago, it’s pretty cool
