Browsing eBay after seeing that fugly Assrael abomination, I came upon this interesting doublecut.

Probably not worth the hassle, but damn if it didn't look fine.

Not sure about the abalone purfling though...

Too much jazz on the binding for me. Otherwise looks nice

Nate, that guitar is sitting downstairs in my foyer. It's got the nicest CSB plain top I've ever seen but I asked for a refund because the body is thinner than I specified (1.5" vs. 2.0") and the abalone binding on the body doesn't match the binding on the headstock. Also, about a half dozen frets are a bit high (depending on how you prefer your action, that might not be a problem) and at least one of the fake Grovers has some serious play (although it probably will hold tune). It also will need to be intonated.

Also, if you're planning on upgrading the harness with full size pots, the cavity sides next to a couple of the pots will have to be hogged out a little to make room as the shaft holes are really close to the sides. Other than what I've mentioned, the build quality is pretty good but I didn't go over it all that thoroughly as soon as I saw that mismatched binding. However, even with the flaws mentioned, that's a great price and In fact if it wasn't for the binding mismatch, I would have accepted a price adjustment and done a fret level myself.

Rather than have me return it to China, the seller cleverly listed it at what I assume was his cost (I paid $312 shipped) with the intent of having me ship it to whoever bought it. He just sent me the return label and I immediately recognized your name and was going to PM you until I saw your thread.

Here's the link to the original and current listing:

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Classic-Guitar-Electric-Guitar-Exclusive-Custom-Ribbon-Edge-Free-Shipping/372493638763?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I'll be dropping it off at USPS Monday afternoon so you should have it by next Thursday

    Now that is hilarious.

I read the ad. So the seller basically sold it again as new. And is having you ship it to the new customer with a return shipping label. This is precisely why I do not use eBay.

Pretty trusting seller there. And shady imo

That's a good point but listed for about half of what I paid originally. And I'm sure I won't be getting an actual refund until it's delivered...

Still a shady practice. Just a reminder of why I have t bought a guitar on eBay in a decade. Or almost anything for that matter.

And what are the chances ? The new buyer should inquire as to how the shipping is so fast lol and if it’s brand new.

I forgot to mention that the frets might not be a problem once you adjust the truss rod properly as the high ones are twelve and above, there is zero bow in the neck, and my notched fret ruler sat perfectly flat on the fretboard. Also, the body is pancake construction, that is there are pieces horizontal to the plane. It's well done though and not very apparent unless you look closely at the sides...

I haven’t used EBay for that same reason. I have heard too many stories of fraud on there.

Knowing there are issues ahead of time, perhaps I will try to get some portion refunded since it clearly isn't "NEW", tis might be a case of diminishing returns for the seller and I could get an even more smoking deal...

That top is what drew me to it, it looks so much better than the original listing.

I actually have been meaning to buy some fret leveling gear since I have a few guitars (my Chibson V included) that need some attention, maybe it would be worth the time.

I have a set of gold Grovers from my burst AS820 I sold when I switched to chrome ones from my Valkyrie.

I was wondering how they made that neck joint like that it looks pretty interesting.

I think it is pretty enterprising, but shady as hell since they didn't list it as used. It probably costs $120 to air freight a guitar back to China using a US based shipper, or $45-75 to send a guitar domestically.

Dude, this has been going on FOREVER & ALWAYS. Where have you been? I'm of the mind if it's their guitar they can do what they want with it, ship it from wherever. Sellers on Amazon do this all the time.

What IS shady, & also happens regularly, is when a seller that doesn't even OWN said guitar lists someone elses with the intent of buying it (marked up of course) after you paid him for it & having it shipped to you from the real owner. New levels of shady on the internet.

Listing a used item as new, is just wrong. And I’m no where near naive. I understand the concept.

Just because it’s been going on forever and common knowledge, does not make it right.

It’s a good thing I didn’t purchase it. I’d have been in contact with the seller.

I will avoid letting him know that I know what I know until you have a refund in pocket.
