I don't care much for it, but there is a lobstering family down the road from me -luckily there are a few folks doing some actual work near me, in this traditional retiree spot...
I have seen their backyard with enormous stacks of lobster pots before, and the occasional boat run, but today, very early morning, I got to see the three boats trailering out, together, loaded with the pots. Impressive!
The boats should be back in 2-3 days. Must be high catch season.

That's for local lobster harvesting. The shellfishing is already on alert, as the water temp creep seem to alter the aquatic life some, already. Oysters would be first to suffer.

What's being harvested in your neck of the woods?

I'ts OK, but not worth the trouble and mess IMHO.

I'll eat it if a tail came with a surf n' turf or whatever, but I won't order a lobster and go through the work and mess to break claws a shit.

Shrimp season now and oyster and crab most of the year. Crawfish are in season now as well. Not much of a lobster fan. My wife and kids are though.

I have no idea what shellfish seasons are when. I don't eat a lot of seafood although I like it. I used to eat lobster frequently a few decades ago but it's gotten so stoopi.d expensive I don't even look at it any more.

Not a fan of shellfish in general personally, other than shrimp. The only native shellfish we have around here that people eat in any quantity is crawfish.

My personal favorite of the local variety is Panfish ( Crappies, Sunfish, Bluegills, etc ) caught in the winter through the ice. In the summer when the water is warmer, walleye is the lobster of the north.

Hate it. I grew up doing it. My father still does it. A lot of morning waking up at 3:30 am.. (still do) I actually over hauled the 453 Detroit in one of his boats.

i'm a fan, thought i don't have it often ($$$). Best lobster (tail) i ever had was at the Beaches Resort in Turks & Caicos where I got married

we have a nearby Legend (Richmond brewery) brewpub that serves a mean lobster roll with melted butter

one of my wife's go-to's at italian restaurants is lobster ravioli

Oysters - only months without R. Has that changed? So many crazy bacteria in our Southern warm waters.

Yep, that's what they call it 'round here. I don't have the accent myself, but that's what it sounds like.

i love all shellfish but i unfortunately developed a shellfish allergy and can no longer
    eat Clams,mussels,oyster? and crab,
sucks because jersey blue crabs were my absolute favorite shell fish!
luckily i can still eat Lobster(my second favorite),scallops, turtle(if that counts lol) and shrimp if its overcooked.
generally anything with a shell usually taste real GOOD.

Agree with RLP. Lobster tail is fine but the little bit of meat you get for all the work and messing with the rest of the carcass isn’t worth it to me.
