Planning to upgrade a strat with A5 magnets. I'm looking for some pull offs that someone might want to be rid of. Need to have magnet on the bottom like this:

Glad to pay or swap parts or whatever. Thanks!

You sure the magnets will fit in the plastic bobbins?

EDIT: When you said A5 i thought you meant taking the steel slugs out and pushing A5 pole pieces in the bobbin, like a real A5 strat pickup. I see now you are just swapping the ceramic out to a Alnico on the bottom, same principle i guess, wonder how it will sound.

Squeeze a lemon into a cup and add 30% warm water. Turn your pickup on its side and let that soak in for 5 minutes. Dose it again and then use a hairdryer to heat the pickup. In about 5 minutes, take a thin screwdriver or knife and gently pry on the magnet.

If you are patient, the magnet will separate and you can replace with another magnet. As @mozz advised, make sure the new magnet and pickup fits the cavity of the guitar. If it does, try out the magnet and if you like it - go back an glue it on ith a little super glue to keep it from having nasty microphonic howls.

Thanks guys. Yeah pictured is one I already did. It's the only spare single coil I have. I figured ceramics with bar magnets would be easiest to work with and pretty plentiful!

The pickup in the picture reads 5.3 on the multimeter. Pretty low output, but should sound sweet, hopefully.

I'll check later tonight or tomorrow but I'd be shocked if I didn't have at least a few sets from either SX or some other MIC Strats. PM me an address and I'll send a set your way...

    I've wondered about doing that.
Let us know how they sound. After I replace my bridge and middle pups on my Hawk with the two I got from Buddha, I may replace the neck pup's magnet with an A5 bar.

As an aside, I actually got the ceramic magnet to break loose with a tap from a flathead screw driver with a hammer.

I think I will try the lemon juice method though. Might be less traumatic!

$23 a pup for fender sounds like a deal. Just not sure if thats going to be the sound I'm looking for. I have my 79 strat I like its tone. Then I have a squier std with its "premium" alnico s and more and more I just hate it. Whereas the cheap ceramics in my SX ltd I kinda like. Bright as hell but likeable. Very reggae tone. Then back off the tone and very nice strat tones in there. I guess the difference in buying these is if I dont like them I can resell them with the fender name. They are at least valued in the marketplace. I still have some rose import pickups I should install first.

Here are the pups Tobijohn generously donated to me. Lemon juice and hairdryer trick worked perfectly.

    New A5 magnets installed.

Have this stratlike object, but may grab a Squier or SX to pop them in.
