You might want to take a look at the lesson from Shut Up and Play:

There's a demo, a rhythm lesson and a solo lesson here. You'll hear a lot more guitar going on than what showed up above.

Thanks for the tip. Why don't you follow that note for note and record it and then post it here so we can have a listen. I'd look forward to that.

The video already offers enough for you to listen. Besides, I'm usually asked to play keys when we do that song. One thing I noticed is that the shutupandplay vid offers a guitar dupe of a keyboard part or two.

I played my first *real* gig last Sunday. I was on keys. We did Long Train Running - which doesn't even have keys I don't think.

That has nothing to do with this thread, just wanted to share. :coffee:

sounds pretty good to me. I like the tutorials that "shut up and ply your guitar" does.

I haven't gone back and listened to the original in a while, but this is how they've played it recently, and I was playing keys on the last version I played:

Note the Variax on the right doing the acoustic guitar parts.

found a few seconds of our mad-dog, on the fly attempt. you can see me lean down, trying to hear myself and the rest of the band. I could barely hear anything, being perched against a corner wall next to the drummer. We shared a monitor, but i could not hear the band (notice i am behind the lead guitarists amp). I ended up playing 1 & 2 note gospel organ parts, and mixing the leslie in.
