I was never very impressed with her when I was young and went to see her at the movies or on TV shows. I guess she was too goody two shoes. But a few years back I started watching some movies and You Tube videos and dang she was hot, nice and it seems she had a real big heart. This video showcase those and other assets. Doris Day...RIP. You will be missed.

Doris had a fantastic singing voice. Every December I spin her Christmas album. She also loved cats and animals in general.

One of my favorite Rodney Dangerfield appearances on The Tonight Show. Doris Day was on right before Rodney. You can hear her laughing in the backround. Obviously a good sense of humor as well as the other attibutes mentioned above. 8:20 she gives Rodney a little love jab.
    Worth the watch....

Bor in the mid 50's I grew up on Doris Day rom-coms and musicals. It wasn't until I was grown that I got to appreciate her comic timing and singing.

Looking back, the woman was an absolute powerhouse. I'm sure this obit barely scratches the surface:

If you are currently younger than 60, though, you probably missed her whole deal. She really should be even more of a 60's American icon than she is at this point, she's been somewhat forgotten in her old age.

I hope some cable channel will screen a Doris Day marathon soon, so my wife and I can revisit some of those 60's romantic comedies that we saw as kids in the theater. They had a different kind of sexiness to them - you knew there was some bangin' going on but it was all sort of implied. At least that's what I remember.

Mother of Terry Melcher, to boot. Damn, that guy made some great records. And he barely dodged getting whacked by Manson.

No funeral. nada. She didn't like death. Read when a pet had to be put down she could not be there. I understand that but I HAVE to be there. I could not let one of my fur friends leave wondering where I was. I hate death too!

    RIP

But damn.......I thought she had been dead for years.

The fact she was the mother of Terry Melcher is the most impressive thing of all (to me at least)!
