What's the finger nail test and the smell test? And how long should I let the last coat of primer dry for? I'm hoping to paint my Strat body this weekend.

    I'm finished

    2e326c1563ee88d7a5b2f097436b4356.jpg

After much fuss with the wiring (Reading the schematic, not fitting it in the f-holes, that was actually not bad), I strung her up. There was some problems with the switch, and a wire came loose when I installed it. A quick fix, thankfully.

After tuning, I began the intonation. Believe it or not, it's well intonated, I didn't have any problems. Granted, it looks off because the saddles are at an angle for strings they normally wouldn't be, but after checking it several times. it's alright.

The neck needs some minor adjustment, but after not having any tension on it for almost 2 months, it's not as bad as I expected. I'll let it settle for a few nights.

The dirty fingers is exactly what I wanted. The cleans are clear, the dirt is incredible. The neck is dark and a bit muddy, but I actually like it for a bluesy tone.

The only thing left is to add the cream speed knob. The black looks nice for now, but I want the cream and it is coming in the mail.

Thank you all for joining me on this little journey. I'll take more pictures when I'm not in class and the sun is out :wiggle:

That is sweet. I think I'd use either black or chrome pickup rings, just because the cream break up the racing stripes.

Thanks fellas! It was a lot of fun to do this project, but I'm glad that it's (nearly) finished. I'm at school now, but once I get home at 6, I plan on turning up the SCXD and jamming out to a few tunes.

That looks very good! How'd you go flipping the nut? Kudos on making it work without having to reposition the bridge posts! What bridge did you use again? Can't seem to find that in the thread.

    Once again thank you everyone!

For the nut, I bought a lefty epiphone specific Graphtech nut off ebay, and it didn't require any filing of the slots to play well. I just had to shape it to fit the neck and the slot it sits in. I love it and I think I'll be upgrading all my current and future instruments with GT nuts!

I got lucky with the bridge posts and making it work. I was really worried about it as I set it up, I kept backing out the G saddle and it wouldn't intonate, then I pushed it forward and that had it.

The bridge and tail are guitarfetish pieces, nice and solid for the most part. The bridge seems to rattle a little (it would rattle when I shook it before I installed it on the guitar, it's not the frets) and I'm guessing it's just tolerances and get-what-you-pay-for stuff, but when I play through an amp I can't hear any rattle and buzz. I like GFS parts and pups, but I may upgrade the bridge somewhere down the line but that is definitely not priority.

    Now for some pron!

I got to know this guitar really well last night. It was a joy to play, much easier than any of the SJMs I've owned. I'm sure the shorter scale helps a wee bit. Frets need a bit of polishing but it's not too bad for the moment. Once my local luthier buddy comes back from his northward vacation, I'll have him level the frets.

But all in all, I absolutely love the way it plays, the way it sounds and it's feel. I just need to wait for my new delay pedal to come in and then the real fun can begin

GREAT job! If the bridge rattle is coming from the studs, you can use very
thin aluminum tape to rap them with before you install.
