After searching the last 2 years. I finally found a Epiphone Sorrento for a really good price on Ebay. Ad said it was in excellent condition and it is. Bought it Tuesday out of Florida and received it this morning. Quick delivery through FedEx to Ohio. It came in a really well taken care of Epi hardshell case. It is orange and I was thinking I would refinish in a burst and get rid of the Bigbsy. However the Mrs. saw it when it came and loved the color and I agreed that the finish is excellent so I guess it will stay as is. And to me surprisingly, the Bigsby works really well and does not detract from the play ability as I thought it would . Nevertheless, I will leave it stock. I does play beautifully, sounds great and looks good. So all I need is some cleaning and new strings and it will be A1.
Yes. I got this one after buying an Epiphone Century a couple of years back because of the Florentine cutaway to get to the higher frets more easily.
Congrats on the rockabilly beast! It looks fantastic! I see that guitar style and I automatically think of Scotty Moore of early Elvis fame. Very underrated guitarist. Scott
Scotty played an ES295. Shape is close but the Sorrento is thinner. More Byrdland like. I should throw this onto my threadpile, but looky what I got this week. That's a 295 size Vintage. Your Epi looks fantastic. I wouldn't touch a thing. I'm considering a Bigsby B6.
You're right idiotsdelight. I should have looked at it more closely. Btw, congrats on your find! Be sure to post pictures of it when you're done.
Well, I've tried the Casino (full sized, not the Coupe) and they sound very close. The Casino and John Lee Hooker Zephyr are both on my wish list. What I like about these full hollow bodies is that you can play them acoustically and they are still loud enough to hear yourself play with out annoying those close by. And they are very light. And sound killer when plugged in.
I'm not much of a rockabilly player but I do like rockabilly and many genres and this guitar is a nice player for whatever genre ails ya.
Nice piece there Id. And yes after playing a few times the Bigsby will stay as I am getting accustomed to it.
I would agree and the build quality was pretty much flawless. I had that same one in a lefty version for a while but sent it off to @Brendan a few months back who would appreciate it far more than I:
