I may have mentioned on here before that I do a lot of design work for high end furniture, conference tables, board rooms, etc. I was in the shop yesterday fondling wood as usual, and I thought my fellow forumites would probably enjoy the view. We do solid wood work as well, but most of the high end finishes are veneers. Here are a few shots of some the log veneers in the stash.

Very cool - I have an older alvarez with burl mahogony like the stuff in Picture 3. Fun to see what it all looks like before it turns into a guitar or a coffee table.

So is that morning wood, all-day wood or on a rare occasion wood? ;)

So beautiful. I'm pretty sure if guitars were all just painted plastic I'd only own 2 or 3 tops. Certainly 80% of my collection was just an excuse for different finishes and beautiful wood. I got it from my mom growing up and refinishing some antiques that had layers of paint over beautiful old wood. She is an artist and now I see she just likes to slather bright yellows and oranges all over everything now. I'm disgusted.
