I saw that vid today. I love that color. I hope I don’t see it on amazon, cuz I’d buy it at that price immediately.

He's so late to the party.

The pearl pg is a sticker pver a ply. It looks better without the pearl I think. People are complaining it's a sticker.

I don't think I ever heard anyone mention the bound neck on the manic Firefly FB page (that I had to snooze).

Matte black is lame. It's fucking on everything now. So overdone 5 yrs ago. I like the green though.

What's everyones comparison to the Rondo equivalent? There was a thinline Furrian at this pricepoint, maybe even cheaper. The only thing this has going is the ashtray bridge. I hear the FF necks are on the thin side.

There's a lot of meat on the FF headstock too.

IIRC, the last time the Agile, SX and Douglas thinline versions were in stock had to be at least a couple years ago. I've got a b-stock of the Agile but I'm pretty sure they normally went for in excess of $300. The lefty SX/Douglas ones were around $175...

i have the green ffth. i swapped my black pearloid pickguard for a white pearloid one for cosmetics and i'd rather have a plain white to match the binding but i checked to see if it was a sticker and it didn't seem to be. the neck shape is kinda chunky actually front to back, closest thing i have is probably the prs se zach mysers wide fat se neck. to me the width feels comparable to my mim tele neck, just a little chunkier (and the wood on mine is not visually impressive). i swapped out the bridge, mostly because i already have a wilkinson compensated ashtray brass barrel type on my mim tele so wanted something more different. i put the stock mim tele bridge on it.

the biggest complaints have are minor: the finish is a little uneven in spots (not really obviously so it's kind of a nitpicky complaint), and the hardware is all cheap--when it got to me the switch was bent because it's made of cheap weak metal. the other complaint is more meta: there are other comparable quality guitars of similar type for around the same price so it's not the standout that the 338 is for that price.

I wanted the matte black. Dangit. I was going to coil sized rail buckers it on both neck and bridge and play metal on it.

I wonder when do they stock again?

If anyone picks one of these up and wants to swap a black pearl pickguard for a white pearl one, hit me up.

That really is a great deal. You really can’t do much better for that price.

Seems the hollowbody ff is a pretty special deal nowadays but after the deals I had on my rondo teles I'm not really interested. Then again the old timers here who were in in the rondo hollowbody heydays probably snicker at those ff too.
I suppose the real old timers who bought gibson as 175 tdc for $300 are really scoffing at all of us :)

I'm looking for a Tele style guitar but these don't seem to interest me. I really don't like the colors and pick guards, although that green looks nice. I haven't seen green on Amazon yet tho. Plus, I know I'd have to swap out some of the hardware like I did on my 338.

I'd order a Slick Tele today from GFS if they were in stock. Not a big fan of relic guitars, but the hardware looks very good. They aren't supposed to be restocked until after the first of the year tho (according to GFS). So I was thinking of a Harley Benton for $139.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I don't want a Squire. Used is fine. I moved too slow on a $300 MIM on Reverb a couple weeks ago in a nice creme white with upgraded pups.

$300 is probably the most I can get away with spending.

    Thanks!

For $300 I’d hold out for a used MIM Fender or even a Squier Classic Vibe. I see MIM’s pop up every now and then for around $250 on FB marketplace and Craigslist but they go quickly.

Honestly I know you wont want to hear this, but you should look for a used squier classic vibe tele. Probably the best bang for your dollar tele that needs no upgrades and plays well stock.

I'm ordering the matte black when it's out again. Will Fender 12 hole pickguards fit? I want it in all-black. I'm putting in coil sized rails on both positions, and metal on it!

No. As I recall someone tried on the Firefly FB page & was upset that it didn't. Christ.

looks like the 338s are back on amazon tonight - price bumped up 10 bucks to $149, but supposedly they are almost all rosewood boards this time according to the "information" over on the FB funhouse. I might take another swing at the ice tea, at least they are through amazon prime still so returns are snap if you get a bad one.
