So my wife and I visit a large flea market here in jersey from time to time. They have a small guitar store. Most of the stuff is off brand copies from China. But from time to time they have some cool stuff.

Ran upon this parts caster last week. Has an esp back plate and the guy swore it is one. There’s no doubt in my mind that it isn’t but I like that it’s a strat with humbuckers and no Floyd! Haggled a bit last week and left, came back today and took the plunge for less than $200.

I am tempted to pull the neck off to see if there’s any markings but the body to me looks like a Kramer body. Could just be that style though.

Wait?! Where is this flea market/guitar store?

Nice guitar. It does look like a Kramer body. IIRC they had that yellow in a few strat and tele models.

It’s central nj, come down one day (I think you’re northern nj/nyc area and we can take a ride down)

And thanks psychokid for being my go to for all things super strat!

Looks like it from here. That's an ESP flicker. Well renowned for a non Floyd type I believe!

Sweet! I’ll have to take it apart and see if the body/neck have any markings.

Btw- I have to say psychokid is a cool dude. I always bug him with weird questions about superstrats and he’s extremely helpful and super nice. One of the reasons I stay on this forum is the cool people.

Thanks chimi. You give us a lot of guitar pr0n to admire as well :D

Would definitely be interesting to see if there are any markings under the neck. Kramer did that with dates and initials often, but I don't know about straight up vintage ESPs.

I'm also curious if that headstock looks untouched. I would think at that time it'd have a more Fender shaped headstock, but I really have no idea when they started sanding it down like that. The color and the heel of the fretboard do look like classic ESP to me.

Yeah--that sounds like it would be a blast. I'm a mile from Seton Hall Univ. in South Orange. I think you're not too far from here. Scotch-Fanwood area, right?

I remember that headstock. Back around 1990, a guy I worked with offered me a blue ESP just like that for cheap, including the unmarked headstock with that shape. At the time I scoffed because he had no proof of what it was (I don't recall if the neck plate came up). I wish I'd have bought it!

Here’s a few pictures of the headstock. Doesn’t look like it was touched or modified

    HNGD!

The knobs look reminiscent of the classic Ibanez grip knobs, which I love.

It sure is! LOVE that guitar. Neck is PERFECT and the pickups are great. Wish i could snag another one like it. I hunted for one for about 5 years, found one on Guitar Center's used site and my wife bought it for me as my Xmas present.
