Stopped in to the local Guitar Center today to buy a desk top mic stand and since I didn’t have any of my children with me, I got to spend a half hour playing some guitars.
    I played:
    Epiphone G 400 Pro
    Epiphone G 400
    Fender Classic Series 50’s Telecaster
Used 2015 American G&L ASAT Classic
    Used PRS Santana
    PRS S2 satin
Used Gibson Les Paul Special Double Cut

The S2, 50’s Series Tele and Double Cut Les Paul Special were okay.

The G400 sounded VERY muddy in the bridge and was my least favorite.

The Santana and ASAT were quite nice.

The G400 Pro sounded best of all.

The clear winner for me was the Fender Bassbreaker 15 I played them all through.

They didn’t have the mic stand I wanted, so I left empty handed. Didn’t even take a pick.

If I've counted correctly that's a dozen different guitars you tried. They must be pretty laid-back at that GC.

I've been asked to, er . . . "Buy something or leave" for pawing far fewer instruments. ;)

at the local gc you can play as many as you want and they pretty much leave you alone aside from the occasional "are you being served?" guy... as long as they're within reach, but most of the ones you're most curious about you need a ladder to get at and those you can't just grab or if you could i bet you'd wind up getting escorted out.

i never leave without strolling off with at least a couple of picks though. ;)

The G&L was the only one they had to climb the ladder for. The others were low.
I think I only played 7. Never turned the amp up louder than about 1.
I also grabbed a new red Player Telecaster, but it was so heavy I didn’t bother playing it.

Depends on the GC. Some GCs you basically have to smash a guitar into the wall to get anyone to pay attention to you, and others the entire sales team crawls all the way up your ass the second you step through the door :ROFLMAO:
