And they don't. Folks have done a better job creating a expert-fooling '59 burst in their home workshops and garages than Gibson's managed to do in the 60 years since. Why IS that?

And if "authenticity" means that they're going to keep using nitrocellulose as a finish on their guitars, I'm done with it.

All very nice and nice-looking. But the baby boomers who have the requisite nostalgia and the money for these are moving toward (or in) retirement and arthritis is taking its toll on their rock and roll dreams. These aren't Gibson's future. And the truth is, unless you really really want the logo, there are guitars that are better/as good and buyers know it. Worse, the current generation of music consumers aren't tying themselves into guitar or even guitar-centric bands these days. If you're not an ex-disney-princess or single-name female singer like the ones claiming ownership of hip hop and pop these days, you're not getting air time on streaming services.

Oh hey Daddy Warbucks let me just put my Gibson invented Les Paul down and pickup my .38 super Gold Cup; or maybe I can just throw silver America Eagles at them.

I do hope you appreciate the humor. Cheers

LOL, but notice I didn’t say Colt. You are welcome to use a Ruger, Remington, Springfield, or whatever 1911 brand you prefer for yard defense. I did however specify.45 ACP and not that elitist competition 38 super stuff that isn’t even really .38”. Like Gibson, they cut corners on that shit and only give you .356” of projectile. Totally bullshit!

You know the only real copyright they have (as I understand it) is the headstock. I understand them not wanting other companies copying their guitars but the market is so big and those are popular guitar designs. Not everyone wants a Gibson but they might like some of the attributes their guitars have. It comes down to who makes the better product. Gibson needs to stop trying to sue everyone and try to actually start making higher quality guitars.

They actually tried to warn (file a lawsuit) against Vintage brand guitars. They were laughed out of court. So I guess now their strategy is to make threatening videos!

Potentially differing strategies. One seeks to create accuracy and then control time/costs, while the other starts with cost and then goes forward.

Dang, they took the video down before I could see it. Mixed bag for me, because I like my Gibsons and I like train wrecks too.

You okay with my Rock Island Armory 1911 9mm (ammo costs 1/2 of .45 ACP, and after all, AGF is all about cheap, right?)

Don’t see why this is such a big deal. I owned Les Paul’s, 335’s and V’s when they were in $450 to $550 range. Sold them all for a little less. Don’t really miss them and not going to pay the inflated price for 2019 models. You don’t care for Gibson and there strategies, move along. I have plenty of great guitars now and not one is a Gibson. But I am old (mature, seasoned, experienced) , and think a little different now.

Nope, sorry but 9mm is a pinko commie Euro vegan caliber. :D Rock Island 1911’s are definitely acceptable in proper calibers though.*

Allowable hand gun calibers generally end in ACP or S&W (with or with a magnum suffix) like .380 ACP, .45 ACP, .40 S&W, .357 S&W Magnum or .500 S&W Magnum. These rounds are typically transported in pickup trucks and their owners eat real beef not Impossible to swallow burgers.

In rifles, allowable names include Springfield, Remington, Winchester, or for big spenders with tough shoulders, Weatherby and BMG.

*OK, fine, 9mm is acceptable in a pinch. :tearsofjoy:

The would be hilarious! If Disney sued them based on that video and demanded compensation for using Mickey Mouse ears on the 33x guitars I don’t think I could ever stop laughing!

Mark looks completely different in ALL of the new Gibson promo vids I've seen him in since he made the move. From the powder on his dome, to the liner on his eyes, and most of all, the disturbing deer-in-the-headlight look.

I think this story is going to have a entertaining ending and background story.

I just can't help but keep this derailed....I feel somewhat liable for this unravel.
How about a Raven (fine purveror of firearms) in .25 ACP; that partially meets requirements? Maybe an All American 10mm (that extra 1mm is pricey ya know.)

Happy Fathers Day too all that qualify.
