From what I have seen so far I like the upper east area. The new construction in Peyton/Falcon is where we have our mind set right now. But we will see. I should be putting in offfers on my next trip there in a week and a half.

Yeah I could feel it when I was there a month ago. Just something I'll get used to. Coming back to SD was like breathing into an O2 tank. But it really didn't bother me when I was there.

If you don't like SUV's, look at Subaru.
Or even if you do like SUV's look at Subaru. :)

That is what our rental car was there a month ago. Probably for a reason. :) We definitely liked it. Thanks for the tip.

I got mud tires on the 2WD truck. It was the only way to get out of the mud/snow, here in an Oregon winter. Otherwise it got stuck cold every 24 hours.

I don't know what those 5 companies are but I'm guessing not. Raytheon? Lockheed? Northrop Grumman?
I am staying with the same company that I have worked for for the previous 3 years.

    Thanks.
Weed is already legal here in California so.....nah. I don't use it anyways. Shit I'm pretty weak in the drug depot. I've never even tried weed.

Awesome that that was possible. I would think that makes your move easier. One less thing to hassle with right off the bat, and if you desire you can always explore options after settling.

!00% easier. Current salary transfers. Benefits, vacation time, and stock options all transfer. Everything is the same but the charge code. Relieves some definite amount of stress.

We talked about but never got to the point of doing a San Diego AGF get together. Maybe when you're back in town we can put faces to avatars for the few of us left (and recent bailers) and meet up at a local jam. OR maybe I'm having a birthday jam at my place around aug if that works out.

From Modesto to San Diego to Colorado Springs! I have similar feelings to yours about how California is becoming, but I'm stuck here. I wish you all the best in your new digs, Ryan!

Congrats Ryan @slaveunit ! Wishing you & the family all the best!

Job and house out of the "to do" list it´s a major plus.

Hope you really enjoy this change in your life. I can relate to that feeling of wanting to change.

It´s always great to hear good news.

    Take care!

Congrats and good luck with the new chapter in life.
YOu gonna rent a U-hual for all your gear or let some moving company gorillas throw your amps around?

My dad has been in sw CO for about 20 years now; never been out there.
He comes back this way now and then to visit other family and us, but its been a while.
I should get out there before its too late.

I am going to rent the biggest Uhaul to be honest. As you mention...I can't deal with gorillas tossing my shit around. I will just deal with the crappy 2 days of driving. I know I have too much but ...I have 44 guitars, about 20 amps...lots of pedals. I can't deal with those being tossed around.

    Good luck on the move.
I made a similar decision about 13 years ago, moving from the Bay Area to Portland (Boulder was also in consideration). One of the best decisions I ever made.

I find the time before and after big life changes are some of the most memorable. I remember more about the 1st year here than the next 5 put together :)
Even with all of the headaches involved, take the time to savor the new experiences waiting for you.
