Im super excited to have found this on STL facebook marketplace for $30!!! The neck is super comfortable to play and its a very well made guitar. Only thing is its a little worn with some paint coming off, knicks and scratches, missing strap knob, missing neck screw but neck is still stable, and 2 of the neck screws are completely stripped out in a nice circular bored/hollowed out kind of way, it looks like it was dropped on the volume and tone knobs because it is cracked around both of the pots on the pickguard and sunk in a little, and the mini toggle/phase switch is bent. Other than that it is a true pleasure to play and worth every bit of $30!!! I found one just like mine that sold for $500 in near perfect condition on Reverb, what do you guys think this one is worth in its current condition?

Thanks, I also forgot to mention how light this guitar is... I love the weight of it!

I would try to Dremel a slot in this screws and turn them out with a straight screwdriver, then I’d play it a bunch and not worry about selling it. After I got $30 of joy out of it, I’d give it to someone who wants/needs it.

I forgot I had these drill bit/extractor things called speed outs. I was successful in removing the 2 stripped out neck screws, now all I need is to find 3 neck screws that are the same size. Can I easily find these at a hardware store like ACE?

Maybe, but they are likely metric. You may have better luck at a fastener supply place (take a screw in with you, get stainless steel if you can) or by contacting Rich at Ibanez Rules.

    awesome find!
Cheap playable goodness for the WIN
Yeh, get the right screws to match the 1 good one you have.

There are plenty of online suppliers too.

One minor complaint I forgot to mention is that the pickups dont handle high gain without squealing, I would imagine that I would have to re pot them all, and I might get all the stuff to do that job but I might also end up putting a hot rails in the bridge position because I am a high gain player and like the sound of a humbucker in the bridge when I play most of the time.

Went to 2 different places, ACE hardware and a fastener supplier store and I thought either of those places would have the screws Im looking for but no luck. I looked online at McMaster-Carr and I found a wood screw that matches up almost exactly...

    https://www.mcmaster.com/=1ekzhu9

but the diameter of the head of the screw is 0.065" too big (0.385" diameter), the size screw I have has a .320" diameter head. Also, you have to buy a pack of 25 screws which is about $8.17 plus shipping costs. Ideally I would like to find a screw with those same dimensions so it sits flush inside the neck plate. Any other ideas where I can find a set of 4 stainless steel screws like this?

Amazon - $5.85 with free shipping. It doesn't mention the dimensions of the screws though... If they work, then use the screws and hang on to the plate for another project.

You could always just countersink the holes in the plate a little larger.

I think you did quite well. I have some older Ibanez guitars and find they fit me well. Ibanez marketed some very nice guitars back then.

Don’t forget a dowell to plug the neck and redrill it.

I wont have to do that if the same diameter screw threads are used, in this case its a #8 woodscrew that is 1 3/4" long with hopefully the same diameter oval head.
