Saw this over in the Firefly forum - looks like HB is taking preorders for Jr's in doublecut/singlecut configs. Look pretty nice based on this vid - although it is a production prototype. Under $200. Maybe HB Is seeing the Firefly frenzy and trying to get back in the game here in the US?
Preorder pages: https://www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_dc_junior_tv_yellow.htm https://www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_sc_junior_vintage_sunburst.htm With flat rate shipping, you could buy both for just over $400...
cuteness This is one curve I am ahead on ( probably the only one other than needing to lose a few pounds)
I suspect that these guitars could be quite good. I believe Harley Benton Guitars are made in the same factory as Vintage guitars. It should be interesting to see how these are at the $200 price point.
If they offered a lefty version, I'd have no problem taking a shot. This time around though, someone else will have to be the crash test dummy...
You would think they would offer a lefty version of a guitar like this. After all, the guitar is symmetrical so the factory doesn’t have to make a new jig. All they have to do is carve the electronics cavity on the other side of the guitar.
I was gonna make the same comparison regarding the look of HB's headstock post change & Vintage, although I was thinking Vintage had gone belly up? There seems to be a lot of 'em getting blown out & the whole GFS husk extrava-ganja of which I benefited... twice! Vintage brand headstocks aren't as bad in person. I'm def not complaining of the last husk.
You know I actually just noticed that after looking at your reply. Since the guitar is a flattop I suspect even then all that needs to be done is the routing on the other side for the lefties. Im not sure if that is a difficult thing to do. As a guitar dealer I am always trying to find lefties because I always get requests for them.
Actually Vintage guitars are alive and well in the US. The guitars that GFS is selling are ones from the old Vietnam factory. For whatever reason they were having trouble with the quality control out of there. I am not sure exactly what part of quality control they were having trouble with, however, their guitars are now being manufactured in another factory which I believe is in China.
Well hopefully Kurt is going to come through with a symmetrical double cutaway design that @tvvoodoo came up with in some innovative colors that I've been ramming down his throat for the past several months. There's a nice long thread on the process which would make for some great bathroom reading if you have a tablet: It sure as hell ain't going to cost $188 dollars though...
There should also be a symmetrical double cutaway version of the archtop AL-3200MCC on the way, hopefully in stock before the end of the year. There's another nice long thread on that one too....
I wonder if Harley Benton is still selling well over here in the great US of A ???? They were hot for a time. I know I've purchased many things from Thomann besides guitars. They have had some amazing deals on stuff at times. I haven't purchased a single piece of gear in several years, so I'm outta da loop.
that selector switch couldn't possibly be located in a worse position IMO. I use the volume knobs a ton when I play. That switch location would have me all kinda jacked up, as if it's not hard enough to play decently when everything else is perfect!!!
