you people are SUCH a bad influence, you know I havent been around for a week or more, Work has been hell and theres more coming, and i mcome here and everyones talking about all these great new guitars they bought, and look at what a great deal and whow look at this color

so even though i said i wouldnt buy what I could build I gave in.

worst part is that this has been on my build list sinbce day 1

and then when i moved in june i had to pack up my shop not know when if ever id get it unpacked again.....

So I go and find what I want, as a B stock, come on who can complain, im saving $$$ right? then I look and its only $10 LESS than brand new,,,,,so of course I go for the new. but JUST TO CAUSE issues I hope one of you guys is COMPELLED to buy this:

    https://www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_rb_600cs_classic_serie_b_stock.htm?ref=search_prv_8

I know its been on a lot of lists.....

BTW Apparently Thomen has a B stock classification called DECORATION ONLY, its not producing sound.

its a guitar not a rocket ship theres only so many things that can break

anyone ever bought opne of those from them?

they have one trhat really interests me.

as for what I bought....yeah we'll have to wiat and see (I'm not having good luck w/ international shipments, im sure my pext post will be from guantanamo bay)

Do a search for 'deko' & you will find some info on the Thomann decoration guitars. Seems some of them are quite usable.

$10 off for a B stock isn't much, so you did the right thing in getting a new. Although @tobijohn says one advantage of the B stock is that they are inspected.

The RB-600CS looks sweet. Post lots of pix when you get it. That will make the GAS even worse.

Having bought close to a dozen of them, I think what Thomann refers to as "b-stocks" are actually returns and what is in their DEKO category (under Accessories) are what we normally consider b-stocks. I recently bought one and could find nothing much wrong with it at all. Post #27 in the thread below:

    https://www.aguitarforum.com/thread...toms-on-my-latest-thomann-order.101808/page-2

Guitars in both are inspected before being relisted as there is an initialed inspection tag on the instrument...

cool, thanks for the input, that's interesting the DEKO first time Ive seen that, but I would imagine that Thomenn has a rep top protect

BTW I didn't get the Ricky copy. sorry they have NEVER done anything for me. Owned the agile one once JUST so that A) I could say I had and B) so I could beat Ebay at their own game.

pretty sure I sold it to someone here.....

anyway I'll post an unboxing when it arrives.

Sad part is, I bought it BECAUSE I don't believe I'll have my shop put together soon enough to satisfy my needs.....yet the one thing that keeps turning over in my head is whether I should "reshape" part of the body on this thing when it gets here, in order to make it look more like the original.

Not that I want to fool anyone, but Kurt did this when he made the Agile version, which is why the only one of these Ive ever bough has been the JT.

OK, I'm missing something here. From you're initial post I got the impression that you bought a new HB Rick style guitar but then in your last post, you said you didn't buy it but mention possibly reshaping the body of something that you did purchase. So what did you buy?

FWIW, @Brendan brought this one to my attention a couple weeks ago and it's on the way from Japan but at about twice the cost of the HB RB-600 CS:

So what is the word on these Benton Rick copies? I have never been in love with the rick look but I like something different and a fan of a nice hollowbody and Good DC fret access. I don't care if it isn't so faithful to the original. I only got to touch one once and the neck seemed actually a weird narrow across fat in back feel. Are the copies more a normal c or 60's taper or? Also how hollow is it? Full center block or spine across the top but the back is free or solid body routed out? More like a casino, 335 or thinline tele? Maybe I'll get my first HB. Then again there is the nightmare of HB returns?

Those Ric copies that were floating around ebay last December were just dual humbucker sounding guitars. Don't expect the Ric jangle if that's what your after. Kind of defeats the purpose if you ask me.

Will have something to add on this later, probably tomorrow... I ordered a three pack on the 17th (one B stock, two deko's). It is out for delivery now! But of course, as luck would have it :

Sounds like something that can be remedied with a pickup swap, no?

    TOBI:

No actuially I threw THAT in there to tempt all you SOBS that have been throwing out these amazing deals that FORCED me to go to thomenn and buy something.....

BTW that one you posted looked nice, only 2 problems\

    1) switches are on the wrong side
    2) google translate threw up when I tried to read it

as for what I bought, its an easy mistake, considering how late it was and how bad my artheritoos has been acting up, the fact that ANYTHING was legible is a win in my book!

but no you get to see what I bought assuming I survive the unboxing when mrs mindwave finds out......

    MIGHTY DUCK

please give us details about the deko, cause there is one there id really like....\

as for the HB Rics sounding like anyother HH youre probably right. the agileone did too, until I found some really nice old pups for sale and put them in....

same reason I bought the JT Slimmer. Satrianis pups are easy to find on ebay, slide them in and it looked AND sounded like a really good copy of his actualy axe....

Seems like there are two "classes" of Dekos.
Ones that freely available. My guess, either
    1. they don't sell very well, and they get more incoming defects than they can sell
    2. They had a bad batch, with many failures.

My incoming order has two of those, a 7 string fan fret for $67
    https://www.thomannmusic.com/harley_benton_r_457mn_wh_fanfret_deko.htm
And an interesting Classical one for $77:

There is a a second "class" of dekos that are more rare. You really need to stalk the site to get them, and they go in a hurry once they're up. After getting an appetite, I have found a few of those as well. The Rik copy at the top of this thread for $75, a PRS copy for $100, and a bass (with Quilted maple top!) for $35. I delayed shipment on those until I can see how good these things are in person. I'm beginning to think they are worth it even if they are just decorations!

@mighty_duck Good luck with the dekos. That classical/electric one might be problematic. I know of two cases (dekos) where the body had subsided under the bridge - a repair of that may require some internal propping.

Well for those prices I'd be screwed. I was looking at the deals and seeing the rick at 180 and a fan fret at 160 so i skipped it. At yours prices I'd have to buy "in self defense" Because skipping over those deals would kill me :)

Let's hope for the best. Worst case, this will be a lesson in guitar repair.
I'm prepared for most tuner/nut/fret/hardware/electronic issues. A warped neck would be bad.
A sunken bridge is fixable, though it would be hard going through those frikkin F holes.

Not a bad outcome on the dekos. Shame about the mismatched body on the CST though.

I've got a b-stock AL-2500 with a finish and top that looks exactly like your CST-24...

    An update of sorts.
I got the first shipment - two dekos (7 string and semi-hollow classical) and a B-stock red CST-24.
The top on the CST-24 was mismatched. I was bummed for a couple of days. Instead of complaining to Thomann which was my initial instinct, I put it up on my local CL for $200. Put the ad up 12:15PM, by 2:00 I had 3 inquiries, and by 2:45 I had $200 in my pocket. Fastest turnaround for a guitar ever!
Then I broke the record :)
I played with the 7 string deko over the weekend, nothing wrong with it except for scratchy frets, which was fixed after 5 minutes with some steel wool. Not a bad guitar, but I quickly realized it wasn't for me. As an experiment, I walked in to a GC with it. They couldn't make out what it was, but a few minutes later I walked out with $130. One of their employees liked it enough to take it home.

The second deko (Semi hollow classical) had multiple fret issues - sharp fret ends and a few high frets. Took care of those issue, and she's a player now. Not sure if I want to keep it though, but my daughter seems to have taken a shine to it...

This morning, I added a new red CST-24 to my existing order, hoping for a better top (and a lighter guitar, the first one was 9 pounds). Is this the first HB 4 pack in AGF history?

You've got me beat, three at once was my biggest order. Were you still able to qualify for the flat rate shipping?
