Since you are new here, I got you and @tobijohn (even tho he's a vet).

My first semi-custom (also my first Agile) was something I found on eBay after some my old Jackson Soloist, wanting to get back into Les Pauls. I was going to buy one of the old slim neck AL-3200s in Rootbeer with gold hw available at the time, but I saw it and decided to pull the trigger. It's a double-bound, Tobaccoburst (more whiskeyburst in color) with gold HW. Originally had Duncan Blackouts, amber knobs, and round Grovers, but switched them to EMG 57/66, gold knobs, and Keystone Grovers.

Second semi-custom came a few months from Reverb. Wasn't in the market for a guitar and had actually tried to persuade by cousin's bandmates to get it, but I said "fuck it" and made an offer for $475. Blue flame with black hardware and a maple neck with black blocks. Came with stock Alnico Vs, replaced with the EMG Het Set, and gonna replace it with the Fishman Fluence Tosin Abasis I won.

Here's a pic of them with their sibling!

I would still be in the market for a vintage AL3100 in silverburst if one came up used. The original thickness bodies have some serious mojo. Only issue you could say was they didn't have the binding on front and back. But that's splitting hairs, really.

Silver burst ain't my fave color, but I sure wish he would do a new run of different finishes. Sure get sick of him offering cherry sunburst. I guess someone is still buying them.

Would like to also see double binding too. Also, if he offers green, blue, or purple, I would prefer him keep the back and sides natural rather than stain them those colors. I know he does that on one Oceanburst. I can't imagine it being that much more work and I think it looks way better.

As a quick follow up to my "silvertop" idea, I emailed Rondo to ask what kind of finish would come on the back of a "custom select". Theresa said one could actually specify if you wanted the back painted to match the top, or have stained sides/back and even specify if you wanted light or dark stain for the same price.

I'd love to pull the trigger but am making a custom order of another kind for a topper to put on my truck today. Plus some douchebag did a hit and run on the back fender a couple weeks back (never found them) and repairs will be about $1100 out of pocket. So no new gits for me for a while.

Hopefully someone else will order one and let me live vicariously for a while.

I'm hoping if I can continue to be a good boy, for Christmas Santa might get with Kurt and bring me something in purple or a plain top. Maybe both...

What?!?!? How come I have never heard of anything like this? Hell this should be half his rondo main page. Why bother stocking most other models?
He is showing this pic in the list of colors. If I order this color do I get this body with it?

Also still no option on back/sides color.

Do this for the AD3000 DC and the lpjr DC and hes done bothering with stock.

AFAIK, he stopped offering Custom Selects a while back. That's why there is no active link on the Rondo home page.

I show $425. Still impressive but not quite as compelling.

Very nice. Wouldnt a chambered ss fret model be a 3126? A 3125 plus a3001? I suppose it could be called a 6026 but that just doesnt feel right :)

    Good catch on the date.
