The design of the coin with the rice stalk does looks pretty Soviet-esque LOL

That coin has Chinese characters on it. I'm betting it's Japanese because the guitar is Japanese (they use three writing systems which is kind of odd).

Couple updated pics with some updates. Purchased a truss rod cover off Reverb, I like the wood grain, unfortunately as I was screwing it in, the head of the gold screw just disintegrated and fell off....must have went too tight. I’m happy the cover didn’t crack.

The Japanese Yen that was on the rear strap button when I received the guitar, is now affixed properly where it will live for eternity.

I’m bringing it to a luthier I use for a quote on a refret this week. I was a bit dismayed that I have to get this done, but after some time to think about it, it makes me comfortable with the fact that I’m making this my own.

I brought it to rehearsal this past Friday. I’m still getting acclimated to the Duncan Distortion in the bridge. It almost seemed as if it was a bit microphonic. I’m going to wait til after the refret to determine if I either need to re-pot it or just put a JB in. I’m going to keep tweaking it.

Either way, this thing is pretty special.

The more I look at this guitar, the more I think I need a Japanese LP.

How is the neck? Fat? Thin? Pleasantly plump?

It’s incredibly comfortable. It’s very similar to my AL3100 silverburst, feels just about the same. Not sure what else I could compare it to.
