    Impending New Guitar Day!

I'd been looking around for the right used Standard for several years. I am a patient man.

This weekend I finally found it. I am tremendously pumped for this beauty to arrive. It's an 03 Desertburst, 60s neck, unchambered, with Fillmore pickups and a Vintage RS kit installed. It's also got a Buzz Feiten nut installed. I'm interested to see if it improves intonation as advertized.

Does anyone have experience with the WCR Fillmore pickups? I'll give them a fair shot but I'm more or less an Alnico II low output type guy.

Blah blah.. ok on to the pics! These are from the previous owner, he's a good photographer :)

By far the most beautiful finish ever offered on LPs. Congrats on a (soon to be) gorgeous guitar.

Thanks guys! I guarantee my own pics won't be that nice once I get it. They definitely show it off.

Well it cost a little more due to the upgrades but even still it was a good price. Let's just say it cost somewhere between $1700 and $1800 CDN :) (although our CDN dollar is a little stronger than USD these days).

This should very well be my last Gibson. I don't know what I will do with my Classic gold top yet. It has some special mojo but I have a feeling I will sell it. We'll see though.

I'm still very happy with my Agiles... very. But there is something special about a nice Gibson. I know most of you don't believe it's worth the $ but quite often in life "if you can, you will" and "you can't take your money to the grave" and all that jazz.

my friend has a black 2003 standard that I love. He wants to sell it but cant get what he wants for it. He is asking $1400. I want to ask him if he would take lower, but dont want to insult him. Its black and not a beautiful burst... so its not as coveted. Alot of these have BIN prices on ebay for around 1600-1800, so if I told him to aim lower in the price for a well used (bad buckle rash, etc) black lp std I will feel like I am trying to lowball him so I cna get it for a deal.

And what's wrong with that? A deal is a deal, and if he goes for it, all is fair in love and war.

That's a beauty! As for the WCR Fillmores, I've never actually played them but I've heard nothing but the best about them and that's even from the corksniffer crowd.
