Some of you are no doubt aware that I've been collaborating with this talented gal named Donna for the last six months or so. We got to the point where we had enough songs completed that we figured we might as well pick a dozen good ones, bundle them together, and call it an album. The songs posted above are more than half of those that will be on our album.

Of course making an album necessitated coming up with a name for our "band." We're actually just a studio project, at least for now, though we'll see where it goes. After much brainstorming we hit on "Lamb Chops," which evolved into "Lam Chops," then "Lam Chopz," and finally to the inevitable "LAMCHOPZ." Love it or hate it, I've found that people don't seem to forget it once they've heard it.

I did the album art. It's a lamb from an antique Italian nativity, standing on top of a leopard coaster, with a backdrop from a book on English country decor. I was going for something that was striking and memorable, colorful and beautiful like a Matisse painting, and suggestive of the absurd, surreal, and irrational.

I'll probably list the credits down the center between the image of Donna and I and use it for the inside cover of the CD. The image was already blurry and after I applied a filter it took on the look of an old photo. It's a nod to where our musical influences come from.

This will probably be the back cover of the CD.

Anybody know how to correctly embed a ReverbNation player on an AGF post? Should be simple, but it ain't working no matter how I configure it.

Just a heads up--"Deceiver" is misspelled. Intentional?

...and the album art looks great!

Thanks and thanks. Didn't catch that "Deciever," and no, it wasn't intentional. I've got to add a 12th song anyways so there's an opportunity to correct it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I want you guys to know that AGF played a part in making this LAMCHOPZ album happen.

As I was working on each song I posted them as an AGF thread and solicited your advice. You guys have good ears and you're honest, which I appreciate, and you're recommendations were always taken into account when evolving the tune.

You folks might also be familiar with the many guitars I play on the album, all of which have appeared here on the forum. Just off the top of my head that includes:

Gibson 60 VOS Les Paul (all over the album)
1998 MIK green Epiphone Les Paul w/@Buddha Pickups (solo on "Out On The Bay)
Harley Benton Rosewood Tele w/@Brendan's pups (all over the album)
Harley Benton SG Custom (lead on "Let it Rain")
1997 Squier Affinity Strat ("Out on the Bay")
Harley Benton CLD-41 acoustic (all over the album)
    Ibanez AS-93 ("Next Town Over")
    SG EB-3 bass
    Schecter J-Plus bass
    Squier Affinity P-bass
    1994 Jackson King V Standard
    ("Love Alive")
2002 American Strat loaded with Van Zandt pups. (all over the album)

For amps I used a 65 Amps London, Peavey JSX Mini Colossal, and Park G-10.

For effects I used a Dunlop Cry Baby Wah, a Boss Blues Driver, Joyo Vintage Overdrive, @Snare227's Woodsman Drive, Bogner Ecstasy Blue Overdrive, a vintage 70s electro-harmonix Small Stone phaser, an MXR Script Phase 90.

Strange, there's no Agiles on the list. I've got a few, but it just worked out that way. The Bentons are definitely represented, which the forum buying frenzy is in part responsible for. It was AGF that turned me into a guitar hoarder and modifier, the fact of which allowed me the freedom to draw upon a wide selection of instruments in crafting my tones.

Connie Chung (newscaster), Johnny Cash, Beverly Sills (opera) and Bill Cosby (comedian) put together a band for a while and sent out requests to folks to help them name it. Connie ran a contest on one of the local stations and asked for entries to be sent to: Cosby, Sills, Cash and Chung, care of the station.

Thank you Sir. Nothing too heavy on the album. Probably the most ballsy parts are the second half of "Love Alive" and the end of "The Devil In You." I'd like to coax Donna into doing some harder rock material because I think she really has it in her.

I like the artwork - reminds me of the style of UK folk-rock bands from the 60s/70s - Fairport Convention perhaps?

Good music and good work by good musicians! I'll bet you can bring Donna around to more rock in time.

However from the name, please forgive me that I can't help but wish there was a hidden track with semi famous lyrics:

...This is the song that doesn't end
Yes it goes on and on, my friend
    Some people started singing it,
    not knowing what it was
    And they'll continue singing it,
    forever just because...
