So Saturday night I said goodbye to one of my favorite bands growing up, KISS. Chicky and I traveled to Grand Rapids MI to meet up with her mom and 2 of my buddies. Had a great time, great seats, and made some great memories. Now since Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer have been in the band I’ve refused to see KISS live. Hey, I’m an Ace fan all the way, but considering my first concert was the reunion show at Tiger Stadium in 96 I thought should suck it up and go. Paul is getting a lot of “help” with vocals and the first 4-5 lines of Detroit Rock City we’re completely absent despite him mouthing the words. Eric Singer looks completely bored behind the kit as well. Great show though, tons of pyro and fireworks, vintage concert footage on the screens during older songs. I did wear my “well hung” shirt to spread the word so to speak, lol

Cool side story, my mother in laws first concert was KISS at Cobo Hall in 75, which as we all know became the KISS Alive! album.

    Your MIL is Lois Pewterschmidt!

They played in IA a couple days ago while I was visiting family. Had I known I might have lit a fire.

    GREAT post @zacsdad !

Got tix to see them in April. And I had seen them in 1975 too on that tour!! (thus I don't know why I'm going to see them again, an impulse buy thing, one of the most famous icons in rock is about to go away IMO).

    Kiss had fans?
    Who knew?
The circles I ran in at the time viewed them as a joke.
(If they were even aware of Kiss.)

They were a bit of a joke, but a lot of people enjoy comedy.

Looks like Gene is doing the Ace trick with his boots - looks like elevator soles, but his feet are ground level. Ace has a fear of heights and hated the platform shoes.

Looks like a cool concert. I saw them in '76 for their Destroyer tour.

I caught them last in 2014 with Def Leppard. My brother went and saw this tour in Dallas last month and had a blast. I was lucky (?) enough to see them with Ace, VVincent, Kulick, and Thayer over the years. They have definitely lost more than a step, so it's good this is probably their final bow.

Having said that, I really discovered rock and roll after seeing KISS on Paul Lynde's Halloween Special back in 1976 at the age of 12. Not to get too hokey, but that changed my life, and I was hooked on rock and roll from that point on. I moved on to other groups and styles of rock, but for that reason, I'm grateful KISS came along.

First time I saw Kiss was 1984. They had removed their makeup by then. I had second row. Loved it. First concert ever. Saw them 6 or 7 times since including their first reunion tour.
