Agreed...never been a fan of that headstock at all, especially on LP's. I think it looks OK on the semi-hollows though.

Now if they could get rid of that flattened/D neck profile then we'd really be talkin'

There's 2 plastics in that image i'd love to have... the '61 SG pg & the ES295.

That new headstock shape looks good. Prices will be affected i'm sure.

If that's a picture of the new style, a step backwards in my opinion. More corporate solutions looking for a problem. Here's what they are really doing, raising the prices on the Epis, and raising the prices even more on the Gibson's.

The ugliest headstock ever is on the only Epi I have ever owned and likely ever will own.

And it is a hollow body.

I always throught that headstock looked like someone said "It looks a lot like the Gibson headstock."

"Eh, just cut off the corners."

I would think that you wouldn't want a company to have the reputation of cutting corners.

Not that they're interested in my opinion, but here's my advice for the new Epiphone headstock:

Make it just like Gibson's, write "Gibson" on it, manufacture it in the Qingdao plant in China to the highest possible standard, with choice wood, the best electronics, and high quality hardware, and sell it for about a $1200 street price.

Wasn't horrible before. Looked pretty decent on a hollowbody. I don't see the new one as much more than a lateral change. Ehh.

If they use the the actual Gibson headstock shape and not some ugly ass variant, it will be received well. If they half-ass it and try to make something closer but not quite the same they'll disappoint people. As much as people claim it doesn't matter, I think that if the Epiphone headstock matched the Gibson headstock shape, there would be less desire for Chibsons.

I guess they think we all need a larger boat paddle AND a flower to go with it.

I think Kurt should sue them! It looks like they're planning to rip off the old Agile headstock.

@Flatline is on to something At least Squier's look like budget Fenders down to the basic headstock. Gibson, i think, would do better to follow that model. Not that anyone at Gibson listens to anyone else.

Exactly what I was saying. Just go ahead and make an import Gibson. With the cheaper though highly skilled labor offered by offshore production they could produce a high quality, reasonably priced Les Paul that would put the fear of God in all the copy cat and Chibson producers.

It looks like the bad outline of a Rolling Stones upper lip logo.

Joe Pass was quoted after this was issued that he made a mistake and rarely if ever played one.

The headstock fits a Casino and a Riviera but that is about it.
