Lots of beautiful people, large yachts, and fast cars.

    Memory lane.

What happened in the race (per Wikipedia).
The lap time was 1:22 then, and it was tough to really follow position changes, real-time.

I have no idea, I 'm getting it on the British network SKY. :)
Watch one race on SKY and you'll never be satisfied with ESPN, Fox, etc. again.

This weekend lots of tributes to Niki Lauda R.I.P. Niki. :(

ESPN2 has qualifying early am EST. SATURDAY

Related: the place is rather small, car noises just ring up the whole landscape. It is fun to actually walk on the narrow streets, parts of the track, in the early evening...

So much going on, i did not focus on AS much then.

I got a closer look at his driving style the following year, in Montreal! And it was something special, irrational, even, nobody drove like he did.

That guy has been my idol for some time now.... He had a conviction and drive that most others lack and sheer talent of course......

A portrait movie was made about him some five+ years ago. Pretty extensive about his background, attitude (including dealing with competitors), values, family ties, assessment of risk. Worth digging around to find it.

I loved that documentary. I haven’t any access to watch the races, so I don’t keep up with it anymore. Every development in the season was news to me, so I was riveted. Now I want season two, and another documentary just like it to cover the WRC.

A screen grab from yesterday's practice one. Seems a lot of the teams/drivers are paying tribute to Lauda as well as sky's commentators.
Something I like about SKY's commentators is they hire folks like Jenson Button, Damon Hill, Nico Rossburg who can (and do) give a lot of insight. :)

    vlcsnap-2019-05-24-05h45m06s541.png

During practice 1 they had a visit from Mclaren's CEO who explained in detail what went wrong
    at Indy. Verrrrrry, interesting!

What sort of G forces is the driver getting when a front wheel is lifting?

Monaco corner workers are the best in the business... and they need to be! (note: I did a bit of cornerworking with vintage motos, it is work

Let's hope the Ferrari halo does not do them in.

Speaking of Nicky L, I think that, at the time, he was against Michael Schumacher coming back with a Mercedes drive... or I may have dreamt it? Or someone else at Mercedes was?

    Yo! @Poodlesrule
Remember you have to bring a red cap plus your ticket to get in tomorrow! :)
In Q3 today they were going faster that the all time track record speeds.
Methinks these guys are driving beyond the edge.
A few times they have rode along (on board camera) for a whole lap with Hamilton, Bottas & Leclerc
and I was getting motion sickness!
That is one circuit I would never want to drive!

Pretty good show. Tire shot says it all.
I want the whole race transcript of the LH<-->Team radio exchange!

I watched it on a 27" computer monitor, and by the end, I was exhausted!

Amazing the number of folks in VIP lounges, etc. near the track showing zero interest in the race!
