Wow - What a long and kind of expensive trip. I gigged for years with only (1) electric and (1) (sometimes) acoustic guitar. So after a twenty something year hiatus (quit playing at 23) I bought a new Guild acoustic electric guitar that was a total piece of crap and that started this long journey. Being obsessively cheap made it a little bit easier but still...

I was and am a semi- to full hollow body guitar player and pursued classically designed knock offs of the Guilds, Gretsch's and Gibsons that I recalled from my youth. I have had some really nice guitars and some junk. It took years to finally figure out that a thin bodied design was my go to and a 335 style pretty much did everything I wanted except even that design was a little heavy (how do you guys play LP style?) so then I have my Starfire III's which are perfect in the weight index. You Tube brought back a lot of memories showing players in my favorite bands using 335's. So no matter how far away I wandered I always came back to the 335. Unfortunately I owned two Gibby ES335's and loved the looks but not the necks so the search continued.

Well I now own (3) Ibanez AS (AS73,83 and now a 93) 335 style guitars and (1) Eastman T486B and seriously just can not think of any reason to buy another electric guitar. Sure...we have all heard that one before but I have purchased at least 30 plus guitars to get here.

I am not going to gush about this new (honeymoon phase only had it a couple of weeks) Ibby but it is sweet and I am quite happy. Coupla (Ibanez Artcore AS93FM) things:

    1. Flamey Cherry Red
    2. Super 58 pickups
    3. Sweet Pearl Block Inlays (Let's hear it for block inlays)
    4. Ebony Fretboard (I wish all my guitars had ebony boards
Here are a couple of pics as proof:

MMMMM Shiny.:D I have to say the Ibanez AS series has been at the top of my list for when I get a semihollow. As a lefty selection is slim other than them and never heard an owner speak ill of them.

Nice, I may have mentioned it in another thread but I'm a fan of these and the AM line. I recall the Super and Custom 58s being brigher PAF type pickups which I'm a big fan of.

Nice looking guitar. You and I spoke about your 73 vs the 83 a while back. I have the 83 and it is the best playing semi-hollow I have ever owned. And for some reason the easiest of my guitars to play. I am sure your 93 is a player as well. I feel now I have all the guitars I need, but I never say never. Did not know the 93 had an ebony finger board. Hopefully you will be so enamored with this Guitar that it will be your last.

"..just can not think of any reason to buy another electric guitar."

Would a nice AR320, possibly vintage issue, be a good enough reason?

Ah...doubters in the midst! We have all heard about the "last" amp or guitar. My qualifier is I would need to sell four more guitars before I ordered another. And I just do not have four guitars I am willing to sell. There is one still up for sale (an Ibanez) that to be honest is kind of a rare bird so if it doesn't sell...no biggie. I refuse to give away (pricing) any more guitars. Understandably folks do not want to pay for upgrades or additions but when a $150 Bigsby is added well I won't give that away. Once I stripped down a guitar and did better than I could selling the whole.

I am not a vintage person. I like brand new or mint as in just like new.

Sam - I kind of fell in to the whole Artcore AS thing. Out of the (3) AS, my 83 is still the most comfortable and easy playing neck. Kinda magical. And the pups in the 83...I have no idea what they are. They do not sound like the ACH humbies. I have no reason to take them apart to look because they work and I am not looking to clone any of my guitars as each one brings their "own thing" to the party and that was the plan from day one.

There is something special about a 335. A Tele was my favorite for many years and then I switched to a Les Paul. I sometimes wonder if that will one day change to a 335. I find myself playing them a lot. Currently my custom Alchemy 335 is what I have hanging on the wall for practicing.

I am with you too. I have purchased my last electric guitar unless I run up on a Gibson 335 for $100.
