There was some updated info today which stated the next shipment available on Amazon would be the 338's in the previously offered colors. That will be in ~25 days or so. Then the DC's are next in line it appears. Supposedly a run of new 338 colors and who knows what after that.

I thought those looked more like the illegitimate child of a DC Special and a Strat...

Besides the pickups, how do you think they compare to an Epiphone Dot, or 335 Pro in construction?

There never were any lefty 335 Pros but I have a Dot and a bunch of "budget" semis I can compare it to including Harley Benton HB-35 and 35Plus and a Jay Turser JT-133 which would probably be fairer. A little further up the ladder would be AS-820, AS-1000, Giannini GSH-202, an old MIK Sheraton, Eastwood Classic 12 and a Vantage 635TG. It will have to be tonight or tomorrow night though before I have the time...

No worries... I’ve been thinking about picking up an Epi 335 Pro at some point, which the Firefly probably wouldn’t compare to in terms of construction, anyway. I’m just kinda bored with the available finishes. If I got one, I’d probably go for a natural or “iced tea” burst (I think the world has enough cherry, vintage sunburst and black 335s). I like the blue burst Firefly (I was attracted to the Gary Clarke Jr. Casino when they first came out for the same reason). But that’s just guitar shopping with my eyes... and in the case of the Firefly; my wallet, too.

One of these days Ill go to my local music shop and play an epiphone dot and see how it compares. I dont care for the place so its a "when I feel like it" kind of thing. I do want to find out exactly what pickups are in the dot though.

I played a few Epi Dots before buying these. I was not impressed at all. They actually felt cheaper than these, and they cost twice as much. The Dots I played didn't even have binding in the F holes. Now, a Sheraton felt better to me, but it should.

Yeah, I'm not that interested in a Dot, actually... I had a Korean one years ago, that I wasn't very satisfied with. I modded the bejeezus out of it, but it didn't help much, and I ended up selling it - mods and all - about a year or so later.

The 335 Pro is definitely a step up in construction from the Dot, but I don't think my level of desire is equal to $500... :)

I've also been looking at some Ibanez Artcores too.

The pickups in the Dot are "Alnico Classics", where the 335 Pro has "Alnico Classic Pro" pickups (which pale in comparison to the Pro-Buckers IMO).

The pickups in the Korean Dot were awful... Just their generic "HC" humbuckers. I put a set of GFS '57 somethingorothers in there, and I didn't like those either.

i'm sorry but you're wrong... I had a set in an LP Custom Pro and they were awesome!

Just ask @manco53... He owns that guitar now, and I have no doubt he'll say they're great!

So, as you can clearly see... I win! :ROFLMAO:
