Pre-release? The album is not out until August 30. Well - at least in my part of the world.
There is a single out from it thou:

But yeah - I love Tool.

An employee from Target near Vegas stole a copy from a display and ripped the whole album a few days ago. There was a big thread on Reddit about it.

My son works quite often for for Maynard who is one of the main employers here in the Verde Valley. He had told me about a month ago that the album was in the can waiting for release so now that its out I'll give it a listen. Maynard working out of Jerome is really behind the wine tasting business which has really taken hold here along with the Restaurants and any number of others businesses he owns.

The song "Fear Inoculum" is pretty solid Tool. Very lateralus-esque.

The two new songs I heard at their show in may "Descending" and "Invincible" were cool too, esp. Invincible

I'll definitely be listening on the 30th. Very happy they finally put their discography on the streaming services

Nice, it seems like people are largely giving it a thumbs up which is exciting. I'd like to wait and hear it my preferred way (on vinyl) but apparently there's still no word on the vinyl release and/or conflicting info online, so I think I may very well just listen to the leak since I'm going to 100% buy the record whenever the hell it does become available...

I'm a Tool fan. Honest opinion of the pre-release song is a cut that was too weak to make it on to Lateralus. Not bad, in fact good when measured against most other bands/songs. But not as good as I had hoped. Especially after another long wait.

I've never listened to a Tool album before this one. I'm sold now on their greatness. If people think a song as incredibly awesome as "Fear Inoculum" is not quite up to par, I can't imagine what the earlier albums are like. I think this single is MIND-BLOWING.

well, if it's any consolation, seems most veteran Tool fans consider it one of the weaker songs on the album. I think it's genius. But my favorite song is "Pneuma".

I doubt that this album will match up to their earlier efforts (especially given the insane build up now for fans having waited over a decade for it). Lateralus is really where it's at for Tool in my opinion, that record was significant for me in so many ways as a musician. 10,000 Days was amazing also but had a few bs filler tracks, and Aenima is a classic.

I really want to wait for the record on vinyl but I think it's likely they'll wait a while with it while they reissue other albums (Aenima has been out of print on vinyl forever and people are selling copies on Ebay for $300, and 10,000 Days never had an official vinyl release), so I probably will break and just listen to it all the way through tonight...will report back if I do!

There's a favorite Tool album & there's their entire body of work, none of which are bad, just different as they've evolved. I still love Undertow as much as the more current stuff. It's pointless arguing over any artists "best" album anyway. So many factors.

We just put some Tool Spotify on the overhead at work the other night. I haven't listened to some in a LONG while. I'm looking forward to the album.

    +1

The Lateralus album changed my life for sure. It found me.

I remember seeing the video for sober when I was like 11 years old on headbangers ball, it creeped me the fuck out, but didn’t really get into them until a few years after Lateralus came out. I probably saw them 12 or 15 times on the 10k days tour. I was underwhelmed by the 10k days record though, there’s probably 4 good songs on it. Hoping with that the low track list on Fear Inoculum doesn’t breed the same end result. Either way, I’m consuming all things tool.

Not yet but i did preorder it on Amazon.

I did see them live back in May, I think I've seen them 6 times now. I'm definitely more into Lateralus and 10000 days more as I get older though Opiate, Aenima, and Undertow have some great songs too.

That is some straight up Matrix shit.

I'll repeat my mantra I say almost every other day... " we're a step closer to Blade Runner".
