OK if you like Bats...seriously if I did not have a PRS SE Paul's guitar I would def consider one of these because...

I can't seem to post the Amazon Link. Just search for Grote electric guitar on Amazon. Sorry

Wow, that's pretty blatant, "bats" really. I have become a big PRS fan and doubt that these are close to the same level of craftsmanship, but that carved ash top does look interesting.

I like it a lot! On the Amazon website there more pictures and while looking at the neck it does look like the fret ends were protruding a little past the edge. So at the least this guitar would probably need some fret work. My first thought was to replace the pups, pots, and switch too. And probably some locking tuners. I really like the abalone "bats" on the fretboard as well. But I really like the new Paul's guitar from PRS and was thinking that I might get the SE version of that.

Yea I see the frets extending past the figerboard.

They're making some cool Grotes... I like this one:

Looks like a solid ash top, which is pretty rare. Black ash doesn't look quite as hot as the red version (available on ebay, currently for $230). Both ebay and Amazon ship from china.

Note that these don't have a belly carve in the back, just like practically every other PRS copy on Ali - do they all share the same CAD model?

It's nice, but... after all the fixing and mods, the cost might be like a used PRS S2 Standard.

Why not just get a used S2?

I have the SE Paul. Worth every penny but resale sucks on PRS for some reason so if you don't absolutely love it and the place you buy it has a good return policy dump it. I kept mine.

Can't argue that and I missed that they were shipped from China so I nix my thoughts.

That is a beauty. I recently bought a CORT PRS copy with Seymour Duncans that like a fool I decided to sell. Looks a lot like the Grote. The only I problem I see with these is resale. It is probably not quite PRS quality, but I can make any guitar sound bad!

    Simple solution - buy used!
In my experience, resale is pretty similar to other brands. You lose about 40% value walking out the door, then it depends on condition.

That does look interesting. I’m curious what the fingerboard is made out of. It almost looks to be ebony. But at the prices they are selling for I can’t inagine it would be. The other thing I have learned with these odd branded guitars out of China is that almost like clockwork they need to have their frets leveled.
