Another firefly, but this one has a little twist. I had ordered one of the F338 semi-hollows and had to send it back due to several flaws/issues. On the recommendation of Dianna ( one of the mods on the Firefly Facebook Page ) suggested i contact the owners to pass on my feedback. I had already returned the guitar and got my refund so I was cool with it, but i decided to pass on the info. Unsolicited, "George" at firefly offered me one of the DC/SC models in the next shipment "gratis" to "test" and keep. I wasn't a big fan of the SC 's or the Thinlines, but i did like the DC. I told him my preference would have been the TV Yellow single pickup but i'd take pretty much any of them if he was sending it for free. So this is what I ended up with.

It's actually a pretty nice guitar - very few cosmetic flaws, just one on the bass side of the fretboard that looks lie over/under spray but nothing major. The tuners are initially very smooth and sold too, the 338 had horrible cheap ones. It's got that funky bridge angle thing going on like the others have shown, but just tuning it up out of the box it actually plays pretty nice. No buzzing or dead frets, smooth fret edges, etc. Neck is chunky, kind of halfway between a C and D profile. I think these are about $120 new which seems like a pretty good deal for what you get. Full size pots and braided wire, and even a big-ass orange capacitor to boot.

I have owned a couple of AD 201's and I would still put them in a definite notch above the Firefly, but then again this one is less than half the price. I think i'll probably be taking another shot on a 338 next month due to this gesture, they are supposed to have Ice Tea burst available.

Some cheap chinese pRon for the day

I cancelled my order for the same guitar purely because of those bridge pictures. Well not yours but the first few I saw. Good looking otherwise though.

That is some pretty bad bridge slop, but a set of locking bridge posts may solve it. I've gotten to where I use them on all my wraparound bridges.

It seems like if the majority of the bridges have to be that far back, they probably need to extend the posts back a bit.

The price is right! A few dollars thrown at it could make it a good player.

I liked them, but I gave up on waiting for the red ones.

The incoming LP's look sick though. Can't wait for those.

HNGD! I hope you don't have as many issues as I did with the 2 that I got.

Man, that bridge. I don't understand how they allowed those to keep coming off the line like that. Build 1 or 2 of each model & assess. Fix or proceed with full run.

Everyone's getting those Badass style bridges, which make for a nice save, but I don't like the looks of those.

Firebird/Amazon is pretty bulletproof as far as customer service. I could have gambled but I'm not hurting for guitars that I don't play.

That braided pickup lead & rather large cap is impressive for a "cheap" guitar. I was disappointed that they went with 250k pots though. Are all the guitars wiring done with those?

Is it just me or does the tailpiece on that LP look like it's way back too - almost like a baritone?

Is this anyones here? It's a silverburst from the FF FB page. Check out the discoloration on the FB. That's not wood figuring.

I'm not even sure if it's wood to be honest. The consensus over there on FB seems to be that it's some kind of richlite-type non wood type product, but no one knows exactly what. You can see what looks to be actual grain on the photo of mine, but both this one and the 338 that I sent back had a layer of greasy/gunky stuff on them. I didn't even bother cleaing the 338 up due to the other flaws, but I'm going to do so on this one and I can post results.

Somebody needs to tell Firefly that the KISS method (keep it simple, stupid) is ok. These guitar shapes have been around since the 50's. They're proven. Change the body shape and headstock shape a little to keep the lawyers away, but keep the basic mechanics of the guitars the same.
